Had a meeting yesterday about communications and GPS for the upcoming Norra Mexican 1000 with Mike Pearlman and Michael Noval, at the conclusion of our meeting they directed me to their website to watch a Parnelli Jones teaser video of the Rally. On the way home I called my father the Weatherman as the promoters were looking for someone from PCI to be at each stage of the event to help with communications, who better? Weatherman entered in Exhibition class in his Currie Jeep to follow and help with the race. My next call was to friend and Racing partner Dave Sykes, Dave was thinking of going to support Westham and some other friends, but now will be racing in class 2 in the Fodge. So now I have my Dad and my friend entered and all I can think about is what do I have vintage to race? I start reading the rules and I come across the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Class, a little research on E85 Ethanol and Jet Blue is going Green So a meeting to go over communications at PCI nets Norra 3 new entries. I dare you to go to Norra.com and watch the video. Now imagine 4 nights in Baja sitting at the Bar listening to legends tell stories about the early days of our sport! They call it a Rally, I call it an organized prerun and Baja being my favorite place has got me HOOK, LINE, and SINKER!
Now I just have to get some sponsors on board to help PCI Racing go Green at the Norra Mexican 1000!

The Dirt Sports crew is good to go. Jim Ryan and I are racing our newly redone #25 1964 EMPI "Elf" Class 11 (think Herbie and you get the idea) to run against the Olds 442 of Rod Hall and others. Photographer Boyd Jaynes and designer Bill Brindle III are right behind us in their killer #26 1968 Ford Bronco. The third member of the DS assault will be non other than McKenzie's Jeff Quinn and the OG vintage off-road guy Lorenzo Pearson in his trick VW "Bugazon" rally car.
Like you Scott, we can't wait to hang out with Parnelli Jones, Bruce Meyers, Malcolm Smith, Bud Feldkamp, the Swifts, Westhem/Salmont and now Walker Evans in his old Class 8 Dodge, the three car McMillin team and now Bob Gordon/Butch Arciero in their Chenowth Class 1 car. Plus a ton of others...
Scott, you still have some time. Slip a Duramax into your TT! Hows that for alternative and green?!
If I could bring my truck over, I would. Have a great time!
Cheers from over here, Cole
"They say I am a cynical adventurer of low breeding and no education. That is not true; I am cynical adventurer of low breeding with an excellent education."
Scott It's about time you figured out what a great event this will be. Now we can add the legendary Weatherman and a true Baja Champion driver to the list of entries. Can't wait to hear all the stories. Who's going to enter next, Larry Ragland?????
I just broke out the "1000 Miles to Glory" book to bring for some more autographs.
All this just makes me happier. This race is gonna be the most memorable of all the races in the last 30 years I've been lucky to be involved with...and our entry is almost ready to rock. Glad you and your Dad will be there and assisting/racing in such a Retro Evento. If Jet Blue needs a hand the Big Blue 'Burb be coming up... Hope to share a taco and Corona wid you guys. Roger
Welcome to the club Scott. I can't BELIEVE Syko is racing the Fodge!! Too much fun! Sounds like he's done a lot of upgrades since he ran over the rotting onion patch and chased us out of our own camping spot!
Anger Issues Racing will be there loud and proud. A couple more mods on the Bronco this week, then some testing next week. Why can't it stay warm a little longer? I may be calling you about this intercom stuff I e-mailed ya about. Can't wait to have a beer with you and Syko!
