GPS in single seat car
I am looking at putting a GPS in my 12 car but being that it is a single seat car there is very little dash space. Does anyone have any suggestions or pictures of how they set theirs up? Also what GPS unit would you suggest?

On my single seat 1600 I look through the steering wheel, straight at my 540C and it works great for me. Never really have to take my eyes off the course to see it, and I use it a lot.

Re: GPS in single seat car
That's what I was thinking of doing but the HDS-5 is about 4" deep and I am not able to mount it in the dash. So I would have to mount it between the dash and the steering wheel which wouldn't leave any room for your fingers. Does anyone make a GPS unit with a remote screen? That way all you would have is a small screen on the dash instead of the entire unit. It would be really cool to have a heads up display on your helmet visor like a fighter pilot heads up display, but that would cost some $$$.

Is there any possibility of mounting it overhead, just under the roof cowling? In several of my vehicles I use this space for lots of goodies.

Re: GPS in single seat car
the best set ups that I have seen in single seat buggies mount the gps right in front of the driver...IMO make room for the unit there, mounting it up high causes issues when going back and forth between the view in front of you(race course) and above the horizon...lots of eye fatigue due to changing focus...and if you can get on a 540c is by far the best the hds5 will work just fine but the GUI is a pain.

Is the 540c thinner than the HDS5? Also, what is GUI? Thanks.
