why doesnt robby ever finish in the top 10 ?

im a mexican following nascar cuase or RG, but never see him finish even near the top 10, does he suck at roundyround racing, is he lacking equipment ? lacking talent ?

NASCAR is tuff. for robby and many others out there a top 30 is like a win. its all about making the race and getting that guarantee spot for the next. that will get him spon$or$.

nascar is too structured for rg. too many variables. he's too stubborn. makes lousy decisions [he'd have found the winners circle multiple times if he still raced for richard childress IMO.] no multi car team to speak of for more input and opportunities for testing. the one thing he does really well, road racing, isn't anymore his specialty alone. there's alot of guys now who road race very well. i also believe that stock car racing is his weakest venue he races in. important is also to realize that his competition are some of the very finest racers on the planet and most have driven only stock cars and nothing else since they were youngsters. i'm not so sure he really knows how to set up his cars alot of times either but he won't listen to anyone else, goes out, and the thing doesn't handle for s--t and he falls hopelessly behind . i think his decision making process and really piss poor timing are key factors as well. he has gotten to be alot cleaner of a driver than early in his career i think. either that or he realizes that he's the one that has to pay when he goes after someone and tears sh-t up. not sabates, rousch, or childress. he's capable of running in the top ten for sure but he's his own worst enemy. he's a great talent and a good businessman, but a lousy race tactician and decision maker in my opinion. that combo will have you cruising around comfortably in 34th most of the time.

Yeah I have always wondered that myself too, but NASCAR is hard, there are a lot of good drivers out there, I think it is just too hard to win.

Robby has many factors against him. Robby wasnt brought up turning left. Robby wants total control. He races against the best of the best who have unlimited resources. I wouldnt say he sucks but he sure doesnt have the talents turning left like the other Gordon or Johnson. Seems like towards the end of a race when the accident happens Robby always finds it somehow.

I think it is all about budget.I doubt anyone in nascar is a better driver.

Robby can only go right. Just watch him at the road courses, he's usually a contender then. Also, if he can keep away from where Waltrip is...

Okay, jokes finished with. It comes down to budget I think. There are probably better drivers than him in Nascar, but I doubt there are any that are better than him at as many different vehicles as he is. (TT, Dakar, Baja, Nascar, Indy, and now this Monster Truck and Rally stuff...)

I'm sort of tired of hearing the budget excuse. It was my understanding that he gets the same TRD motors that people winning races get. I would believe he was getting dog motors if he was blowing them up, but he's not. Of course budget plays out in the long run, when it comes to testing and setups. If you have the "budget" for 4 teams, you get 4 times the test info, but I still dont buy it. I love watching RG race anything with wheels, but his my way or the highway attitude, has not, and will not succeed in Cup racing. Hire the right people, let them do what you hired them for, and just focus on driving. Focus on telling your CC what the car is doing, not what to do to fix it, thats his job.

I dont think RG gives people the time to learn how to set up a car for his driving style, they just set it up right away, or they're out. I think Greg Irwin did that part well.
