50 air filters

I have a 04 crf50 and was looking at the stock air filter box and noticed a tube coming off the gear case and going into the filter. Is this tube meant to burn off all the fumes in the engine for smog reasons? Can I disconnect it and put a new filter on with no problems? Are the 03 xr50's like this?

I got rid of mine, With the big bore kit and K&N there is no where for that hose to go, all the shops said ditch it.

Clean 50 looks brand new. What did you do where the tube connects to the gear case? Plug it?

run the tube just behind the motor, in front of the swingarm like a vent hose on a big bike.

i have tried the foam filter by uni but it needs constant cleaning.

i like the k&n with a "prefilter" cover, having the cover just keeps the element clean. be very careful not to use to much oil when oiling the filter, i have 2 friends that used to much oil and sucked oil into the carb, not good!

I Allready have the K&N filter so Im going to use that. I was going to do run it in between the swing arm like a normal vent tube on a big bike just wanted to make sure. Thanks
