I have a harborfreight aluminum racing jack that I bought a craftsman skid for. The whole setup was about $200
Any plus or negative about hi lifts. Or is a floor jack the way to go?
Hi-lifts are finger pichers and a PITA to work with sometimes. But for a pre-runner where you aren't worried about how fast you can change a tire they are a good option because you can use them for a lot of different things - as a come-along, a press, a way to straighten bent parts, etc... I carry one in my Jeep.

The high lifts will get you unstuck and is very versital, carry wd40 or somthing to unstick the jack mechanism. Never lube the jack with chainsaw gas when stuck in a big puddle!

scissor jack from a lot of cars works well and lightweight and small, mine fits in a PRP tool bag, and made a one piece handle that is also easy to store.
