Looking at each of these front axel assy. how would you be able to tell the differance between them?
Need to know this for one of my co-workers here at work.

What are you looing at?
Look at the front of about any full-size truck front end. If it is solid axle it will probably be a Dana 44 or 60. They both look about the same mostly size difference. Then look at front of a jeep cherokee almost all of them have a 30.
The Dana 30 bolt pattern is a little more oval and symmetrical.
The 44, the left side (facing cover) bolts have a round/oval pattern and the right side tapers. Think of the shape of a ring gear and carrier.

Thanx for the info. He wanted to make sure the axel he just got was really a DANA 44. And it is.
He also found out the 30 has king pins and the 44 has ball joints.
