    Fuel Cells-What's the difference?

What are the technical differences in the high dollar (Fuel Safe etc etc) cells vrs the RCI or Jegs brand.

I'm looking for something for a non race vehicle but figured this woudl be the best place to ask.

Also if anyone knows of any used cells for same I am looking for something in the 20-40 gallon range.

    Fuel Cells-What's the difference?

Look into the racer x cell. Made by fuel safe but cheaper and still passes all requirements. It's 41.5 gallons.

the ones that are more money usually will have a better flexible bladder (don't remember the name of the material), the ones at jegs and rci have a regular hard plastic cell with a can around them. the high dollar ones are definitely better but for the price its hard not to buy the cheaper ones, they are both usually race legal also. hope this helps...

legally you cant have fuel cells because they dont meet DOT crash tests standards. or they havent passed it rather. and its considered a modified evap system. find a friendly smog shop and avoid chp!

    Fuel Cells-What's the difference?

The biggest thing that separates the cells is the bladder. Far as I know there are 3 types. 1,2, and 3.
Type one has a kevlar type bladder which is mil spec and race legal everywhere. 2 and 3 are cheaper and Made of less durable material.
I believe Harmon can make a custom cell of any of the bladders. Give them a call they are very reasonable on price.

or just put a decent aluminum well baffled tank in. i even run a coast guard approved 48 gal aluminum marine fuel tank i got from west marine in my four seater. i take out the rear two seats and put it in for long preruns where fuel might be scarce. made in the usa, comes with a little guage, well baffled, works great. fairly inexpensive. fine if you're just cruising. you can also have a killer aluminum tank made that looks every bit as nice as a fuel cell can does and it'll be legal if you plumb it right. that's what i've got in my lightning prerunner. never been pulled over yet and it's right there in plain view for cops. never have to change out the cell foam either.
