    TRAC'N #1 COURSE - file

Attached is the ".kml" file for the Trac'n #1 postponed event.
Go to GPS Visualizer ( http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/gpsbabel/) and convert the file to whatever extension you need for your GPS - Lowrance GPS is ".usr"
Check it out, enjoy and let us know how well (or not) you can follow it.

Recommended: Try doing it at night (Sat. 24th), under race conditions-like. Just a suggestion. Enjoy!

    Re: TRAC'N #1 COURSE - file

Those who have called, your best bet is to go to GPS Visualizer (see link above) and then follow the manner in which to convert the ".kml" file to the file your GPS calls for.
We know that ",usr" does not work for all GPSes, that's why we gave you the GPS Visualizer link so that you can do it yourself.

NOTE: You should also download the ".kml" file and check it out in Google Earth (it's free if you don't have it). When you're there, switch to eye level altitude (3D) to see the various terrain changes on the course. It's really neat and you can also play the "Tour" of the course.

Anything to keep you busy on a Friday night.

Just got back to Chino Hills after running the loop, it was fun and we took a Jeep, a Bronco, and a baja as I said fun but just got home note the time.

Good to hear you had a good time. We love to hear any comments from you that will help us make it even better: For example:
    1. Was the course easy to read?
    2. At what level were you reading your GPS? (i.e.; .06 - .08 .10 or other?
    3. Were there any spots you would have liked to see actual markers? (i.e.; major turns, hills, danger spots, etc.
    4. Were you running the course at race speeds or speeds conducive to your vehicles?

Any other input that you'd think would be helpful to others.
We also met other guys yesterday evening that were going to go out at dark and asked them to provide us with additional input.

We are also thinking that maybe we can stage one or two, "mock" events (no entry fees, perhaps just a small amount to cover some of the safety expenses, a BBQ, drinks, etc.), to get used to this type event and fine-tune it even further. Maybe we can do this a couple of times this year and then come back in 2011 with a full-fledge Trac'n Techno Series.
Love to hear from you guys.
If anyone would like to try the course, we will leave our ".usr" file up for a few more days and then we'll design a new course for the next "trial."
We believe strongly that this will be the wave of the future, especially in the western states. We have to be smarter than the "zealots."

    Love to hear from you:

Excited to see Desert Racing coming back to Cal City I grew up in Cal City(parents still live on Proctor Blvd) and two members of our race team live in Cal City. We couldn't make it out there this past weekend , but are planning on bringing the race car out next weekend to try the course. We'll let you know how it goes
"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure...than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."

    Re: TRAC'N #1 COURSE - file

I was in my pre run jeep that gets along pretty good and we had a Bronco that really gets along but the 5 open car was the fastest. We did run pretty hard and without barley pop stops I'm sure would have averaged over 30 mph. Easy enough to follow but if it was a race with a tracker I would have gotten a few penalty points. We did feel if it was a race at night with more than 50 entries there would have been problems with the clover layout. Folks would have gotten off course and ended up backwards. A few freebies might reel in some customers. Also would be a good fit for my fellow jeep speeders.

We are pretty sure we will have a couple of "test" sessions in the next couple of months. IRC and us are working on our scoring program to be 100% accurate. So as soon as we get that accomplished we'll set a couple of dates where they don't conflict with other major events. I think it would be prudent.

When you get a chance, please let us know at what distance you were reading the trail (o.06, o.08. o.10, etc.)

The closeness to the courses may be of concern although the closest spot where the course comes together is about 1.4-miles and that's in the back section. But we'll take that into consideration.
    Thanks for the input.

I was with peewee running the course at night in my bronco. It was a really cool course with a lot of tight stuff since it was new trail. I think I brought home more bush than a 70s porno has.

I like your analogy. However, remember, the tightness is not because it's a motorcycle or quad trail, but it's because the trails have not been overused, they are mostly "virgin" and we think fabulous, with great variety. We also have no plans of using the same trails (except coming and going out of our property), for at least three or four events, hence. As a result, the trail(s) have plenty of time to recuperate.
That was one of the key elements in getting tacit approval from some of the naysayers.

    Glad you enjoyed it.

I agree. The trails are not clapped out or overused.
