    water vs coolent

    for hot weather racing. is distilled water and some water wetter better than 50 50 coolent ?????

    Water heats up and cools quicker, coolant heats up slower, yet cools slower also.

    I like about 10% coolant in with WW and Distilled water.

    From what I understand, it is kind of a trade off. Water absosbs and dissipates heat faster but has a much lower boiling point. Ethelene glycol (aka coolant) also has anti corrosion properties. I only feel comfortable with some percentage of coolant in the system...like 40%, for the reasons above.

    thanks guys. i talked to redline and some other people. 10-15% coolent for the waterpump seals . v2r

    these are why I use about 10% coolant, usually GM dexcool

    Man, whatever you do... DO NOT mix Dexcool (reddish orange) with Ethylene Glycol (typical green antifreeze/coolant). You will be less than thrilled with the results.

    It turns to Death Foam and will kill your cooling system.
