Prairie City Track Party
On Feb 28 & 29 we will be at PC getting ready for the new season. I understand that we may be able to use more of the offroad area than before so if you have 50 cents or more let Rich know if you will be availiable to help make this another great year. Steve

Re: Prairie City Track Party
Is this an open party? Can we bring the toys to do some tuning/practice or is the track going to be "closed"? Curt

Re: Prairie City Track Party
Curt, I am hoping to get a bit of some track time But I think that will depend on how many changes we are able to make as well as the weather. This is the time for all concerned to get their voices heard in regards to the track. Everyone must see that this is a long term plan so there are many things to consider. Rich knows the parameters we have to work with. It would be great to see experiences racers there, as well as newcombombers and quad racers. Everyone's input is welcome and everyone's help is needed.

Re: Prairie City Track Party
Can you or anyone close to you edit a picture in photoshop or some other graphics editing program? I can upload a track map of PC that we got from our GPS/Data Logger last year, I'm very curious what areas of the track the park is going to allow expansion in. With that information we might be able to cme to the meeting a little more prepared as to the options that might be available.
Some things I'd like to see are:
Wider and/or longer starting area to allow for 10-15 wide starts - maybe running towards the main spectator seating area instead of away from it
4 r 5 purpose built passing areas that get special attention during grooming to make sure they stay intact during a race. This helps to prevent one groove racing.
A medium to large double or even a pair of them in sequence to force drivers to to drive instead of just blasting through full throttle, Might want to build a bypass to be used for the limited classes only. Too many time the track is a high speed affair which only favors motors, drivers skill is less important that HP.
I'd like to think of the track as different components, hairpins, jumps, rythym sections, doubles, sweeping turns, etc.. as individual components. The base track is already cut so this race you add this extra corner section or this straightaway and at a different race you do something different like we do for the long vs shorter track...

Re: Prairie City Track Party
Those are some great ideas. I can edit some photos in CorelDraw, if you want to send them. You can email me at [email protected] and I'll see what I can do.

Re: Prairie City Track Party
You know Billy, Patty just loves it when you add graphics and name landmarks after her
OK, Sully, there's your pictures, how mych space can we use? Also you've called for a 2 day meeting, we need to do some spring and shock testing anyway but can only come up for one day. We'd also like to be involved with the track layout ideas and maybe test some stuff for you, which day would be better to be able to do both? Thanks, Curt

Re: Prairie City Track Party
Glad I could help!!! I was trying to figure out how to place a tiny little white Toyota in the middle of the lake with #769 on it.
Seriously though, after seeing this pic on your site, I really can't imagine a more appropriate name for that particular body of water. Tell Patty it's not marked with bouys, but it's still a "NO WAKE" zone. LOL!!

Re: Prairie City Track Party
Curt, Thanks for the photos. I will see what I can do and send them on to Rich. As far as phe best day to come out, if you want to have an input, Saturday would be the best, for testing your car, Sunday would be better. P.S. Don't forget your bouyance compensators, the lake is full!

Re: Prairie City Track Party
We're currently evaluating the weather also.....After the dump that's already done plus what we're getting the rest of the week, the track will be just about impossible to drive on at any speed. So we're thinking about holding off for a week or two until it dries up a bit. I remember last year or the year before when it was this wet, I drove it almost wide open in 2nd and just the slight incline on the long straight at the bottom was enough that you could walk faster than I was able to go ;( We'll keep talking it over but we'll probably be taking a powder on this weekend due to the poor weather.
Also if we do something like this again, can we get a little notice to improve participation. We also should build an email notification list, at least for some of the more active members...Thanks, Curt
