4 link is a more comfortable ride. But, if you like 500 year old technology, use leaf springs.

Re: Trailing arms or Leafs Springs

i should mention the 1500 class is in MDR.

as far as disadvantages go travel is limited with leaf springs although with Giant's link killer kit you can cycle right around 20" of travel.

leafs are cheaper. most people say if you can afford to link it otherwise there are ways to make leafs work very well. i.e. proper valving of the shocks.

More Harsh, less travel, and less consistent in a way.... leafs are easier to break.... but its relatively cheap. Links are more expensive, but softer and overall smoother.

Re: Trailing arms or Leafs Springs

There's no question that a properly linked rear end works infinitely better than leaves, but you need to factor in the entire build before you go hacking up your truck. What will the truck be used for? Can you afford to link it? Do you know how to link a truck? Links are a big commitment and pretty much ruin the truck for most practical purposes, so make sure you think it through.

Leaves may be old technology but there are a lot of well-tuned leaf spring trucks that can blow the doors off of hack link trucks.
