you need to find out what ABS trouble code it has first. that will steer you in the right diagnostic direction.

    Re: Ranger ABS

I found if you are out in the desert a lot, ABS doesn't work very well. I pulled out my ABS fuse to disable it and it's a lot better. I've had it out for over a year now with no other bad effects of my brakes.

    Re: Ranger ABS

youll need to get a code scanner or hook up with someone who has a code scanner. some auto parts stores will do this for free or next to nothing.

also just for the heck of it check the brake fluid level, sometimes low fluid level will set a brake warning light or abs light.

    Re: Ranger ABS

I've noticed when my ABS light is triggered, it is typically the result of a fried speed sensor on the diff... relatively inexpensive part and easy to replace, I would say fix that and see if it eliminates the problem. If the light still comes on, then spend the bucks to have a code read.

    Re: Ranger ABS

Try pulling the sensor out of the differential and cleaning off the deposits of metal (the sensor is magnetic). This will often fix the problem.

    Re: Ranger ABS

i know that the fluid is ok but ill try pulling the sensor. If my rotors are warped or worn a little odd would that possibly trigger that abs light or not allow the abs to work properly?

    Re: Ranger ABS

I have a loose sender bolt on the front, by one of the calipers. Made the light come on, or if you have gone though mud and the slots are full of junk it may cause it.
