I think any family that is going to push for a lawsuit should not get a dime from the racing community. Im all for helping out the families involved but if there going to turn around and try to sue for more money then like I said they should not get a dime.

I fully expected this. That's why I"m not so big on giving money to the families. Some of the families will be cool, but some will not be. They will want lawsuit money. I agree we should give money to defend against closures, but help the ones pushing lawsuits, no. Sorry to sound cold. The victims went around the barriers so they took the chance on their own.

Why would we give monies to "show our support" if the family has intentions of filing suit against Sloppy or MDR??? It's a shame that the interview with Andrew Therrin's mother was on so late last night, she was compassionate and said "it was just a freak accident." I have no doubt that his mother is not one of those with intentions of pressing civil or criminal charges. I'm not saying that it is the responsibility of FastAID to research what the individual families are gonna do, BUT...if they have intentions of DAMAGING our sport more, than I don't see the need in tossing cash and assistance their way.

Looks like a lot of us feel this way. I don't wanna stir the pot, because we know that the FastAID board has a LOT on their plates right now, but how can we be sure that the donations are going to go to the right places??? No hurry in letting us know, but I believe this is a valid question.

OK Racers and Fans Just had a meeting with the BLM as of right now they cannot give me any info on our upcoming race, they will let me know next week.

As of now they have in mind to Closed Off Road Racing. You need to E mail or call now saying you are against this closing. to E mail them you need to go to the BLM site as they are not listing their e mail address. you need to fill out their questionnaire.

You need to do this in a good way, and explain to them the lost of shuting this down and the effect it will have on our Racing Community.

I'm sure FA has a handle on the overall scheme of things now and to come. However I would say the answer to your question could be to set up "escrow" accounts for each victims immediate family, the injured and Brett as well. A "custodian" family member or injured person is set up as the gatekeeper for the individual escrow account. That person chooses what things such as funeral services, medical bills, home bills, food, etc are to be paid for with the generous escrow account. It isn't a matter of here's a bunch of money, but rather provide the bills and we will take care of it for you kinda deal. Again I'm sure the FA guys are looking into all these kind of things that we really don't need to fully concern ourselves with.

In regards as to who gets how much and why I feel uncomfortable commenting much right now. You can expect to hear from Jared, our president shortly as he has been made aware of the concerns expressed above. What I can say is these will be difficult to decisions to make but please know that at Fast-Aid we have a voting board of directors who is very concerned with the fairness in regards to the releasing of funds as well as a love for the sport.

As was mentioned in the above posts, The entire board has been working non stop to help this situation and we apologize we are not able to communicate better because we are doing so much work behind the scenes right now... Thank you for your continued patience and support. WE ARE ON TOP OF THIS.

Please know we are diligently watching all of the comments on this site and others and are taking everyone's feelings into consideration...

SO!!! Will this tragedy finally wake up all the crazy spectators out there that the race course is 50' from each side of the marked groove? As horrible as this tragedy is, im amazed this type of accident hasn't happend sooner. As in Jason Baldwin rolling his truck in mexico and killing, what, 3 spectators including Craig Stewart. Race crazy spectators have been stainding in the middle of the race course for decades. And when i say the middle of the track, i mean not 100' off to the side. So, how does a couple hundred spectators standing on a racecourse feel it's the responsability of the racers for the safety of the spectators? It's a mentality thats been going on long enough. Will the rabid spectators that we all love very much finally stand back the 100 feet that ALL PROMOTERS require? Or will we still have our race fans stand in the middle of our race courses trying to slap the bedsides of the race trucks as they go by. Only time will tell if we learn from this tragedy. My heart breaks when i think of all the lost souls that paid the ultimate price, just because they felt it was allways allright to stand and spectate on a race course, not off to the side like WE ALL KNOW WE HAVE TO. AND? Will this be the last year any of us will be able to race in California because of fast trucks, Rabid spectators standing on the course and the Tree huggers looking for any oppotunity to close us down and the families of the lost souls who will be looking to sue everyone for the only reason that we can't stand 100' off the course and we all feel that it's allways someone elses fault mentallity.

Just FYI, Craig was injured, not killed. (1 person perished) Just another reason why we have to work on educating everyone with FACTS, not rumors and stories.

I agree to an extent that I dont want to see my donated $ going to fight against us, however, these families now have more than just broken hearts to contend with.

FAST-Aid will do the right thing. Also, don't forget that FAST-Aid is something Jared, Adam and the crew are volunteering for, they still have jobs to maintain, and families of their own, so give them some time to make the proper decisions. Thanks.
