Pathfinder rearend ??
has anybody ever used the rearend out of a nissan pathfinder. My friend put one in on his hardbody and used it after blowing the stock rearend. It has a 10.1 inch ring and pinion and looks like a pretty stout rearend. He rolled his truck and is offering me the rearend for real cheap. I have a yota pick up, and i could use a wider rearend. So if anyone has any experiences with these please let me know. Good or Bad!

Re: Pathfinder rearend ??
What year Pathfinder did it come from? A 10.1" ring gear? Doubtful.

Re: Pathfinder rearend ??
The only bad thing about the nissan rear ends are that the gears are really hard to find and they are very expensive!

Re: Pathfinder rearend ??
Buy it. 9.1 Ring Gear, 31 Spine Axles, 3.70-5.14 Ring&Pinions off the shelf.$450.00 set. Will hold 400HP for 200,000 miles, no problem.
I can get you a locker for that rear end -31Spline-
We can also make you some custom wheel spacers to get your track closer. You will need a new Driveline also.

Re: Pathfinder rearend ??
I have no clue what kind of leafs you have...
Sounds like It came off a hardbody with spring under leafs...
So i'm assuming it has none of the Pathfinder link tabs. Check to make sure your buddy welded your leaf spring mounts square, Then remove all you leafs and get the cycling. Make sure you check your pinion angle of your current set-up @ RH and droop. Remove all your OEM parts and install your new leafs or keep the same leafs you got go'in on. Place the new rear end on top of your springs and start checking to make sure its square with the chassis. When you get your track right, now check for Pinion angle... Make sure you tire is in CL of your bedside @ RH. Check to make sure square and weld away...
I also have some old 10 pack 58.5" leafs for your truck I bought off my buddy and I think he bought off old Duffco Dan... Race National leafs in good condition. PM if you want. I like to Fab once and be done with it, But I understand you are on a budget. Good Luck>>>>SLR

Re: Pathfinder rearend ??
correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't pathfinders 6 lug wheels, while 2wd yotas are 5? are you gonna run different wheels front and rear? and a what about a spare?
not doubting it's a good axle, but that's a lot of work to change away from a yota axle, which is plenty strong....

Re: Pathfinder rearend ??
yeah gary, yer right. but he could have the axles and drums changed to 5 lug to match the front. i had to do this on my 9" except i went from 5 lug to 6 lug to match the my 4wd yota front hubs.

Re: Pathfinder rearend ??
actually i am getting some 4X4 yota spindles to modify for the front. So it will be 6 lug all around but yes i will need to get new rims. I actually just picked up some chevy springs today to do a similar conversion as pat did on his yota, but i will see about the nationals. Thanx for all the help, should make things go alot smoother saturday, so i can get some testing in before rialto.
