BIG OFF-ROAD ACCIDENT
I just heard on Ch.2 news that there was buggy accident near Baker (Dumont) and that 2 people have been killed. Supposedly, one of them is a "high profile" person but they did not give a name. The buggy looked like a Funco Big 5, all bare metal with no graphics on the panels.
I'm looking for more info now.

Re: BIG OFF-ROAD ACCIDENT
Apparently there were two accidents today in the Dumont area. The 5:00 PM news report on Channel 2 showed one of the two accident scenes. No names given yet. Only one dead.

Re: BIG OFF-ROAD ACCIDENT
Just got back from Dumont, unfortunetly a a gentleman did pass on this morning. I'm not going to mention his name, but he is a high profile person. Apperaently what happened is the two were drag racing each other just near Competition Hill. A witness stated that they both cleared the top of the hill at a pretty good rate of speed. One car flew approx. 120' down the other side before the front bumper & wheels dug in the sand, cartwheeling the buggy. the buggy came to rest approx 400' down the hill resting on the wheels. The driver was concious with what looked like neck & back injurys. He was taken by ambulance. I'm not sure how the other car flipped, because there was so much traffic, you couldn't see the tracks. The car came to a rest approx. 300' down the hill on the drivers side. It landed on the left rear whee,l breaking the rear trailing arm. The seat (mount/rear grab bar) broke, and the driver died of major head trauma at the scene. It was an ugly sight. The channel 9 KCAL news chopper shoot some footage of the buggys. May we all pray for the families involved.

Re: BIG OFF-ROAD ACCIDENT
Are we talking high profile off-road person? Or high profile general all around/ celebirty person?

Re: BIG OFF-ROAD ACCIDENT
K-Cal 9 News just said the man who died was a well known business man from the San Bernadino area. They showed some footage too. Wow, that thing was all bent out of shape.

Re: BIG OFF-ROAD ACCIDENT
Fox 11 news says it was Jay Moss, of Moss Motors, who owns a bunch of Dodge and Ford dealerships ( if i remeber correctly) in the 909.

Re: BIG OFF-ROAD ACCIDENT
Here have been other fatal accidents where people kept it pinned way to late going up Comp Hill and then off the back side.
I have to wonder what these guys were thinking as they neared the top of the dune with the throttle down without any knowledge of what was on the other side.
