Leaf spring axle wrap?
Just wondering if there is a real benefit to these types of "sway bars"? I have heard that the number 1 problem with the leaf spring set up is axle wrap, other than doing a Giant Motorsports type "leaf under" design does this design actually work?

Re: Leaf spring axle wrap?
They are also known as "anti wrap" bars, they use them on the "stock" class trucks up here in short course. I know a guy who runs them on his stock class f-150 with spring over axle and he hasnt gotten axle wrap yet. A lot of the rock guys also run them, from what I have seen they seem to work.

I have an Autofab 2-link on my Bronco and after driving it with I don't think I'll ever want a leaf spring (over axle) truck without them. Search here for 2-link. There are several threads covering the topic.
I know a little German... he's sitting over there.

Right on, so the "anti wrap" bars prevent the axle from wrapping? Whats the worst that can happen? Broken U-joints and a busted driveshaft? Do you know if they allow these types of links for Class 7 vehicles? Thanks for your help..

Most 7s trucks, which are limited by the rules to leaf springs for the rear suspension use anti-wrap bars to prevent the spring from twisting. If designed correctly to eliminate bind, the anti-wrap bar go along way in preventing driveline and spring damage.

Re: Leaf spring axle wrap?
A properly setup 2 link can do wonders to a spring over leaf setup. Night and day difference. They are not needed on spring under setups. They do not seem to affect sway much though.
Broken leaf springs, broken u-joints, and drivelines are more likely to happen without a 2 link. Broncos have a factory wedge spacer that makes axle wrap worse when coupled with large tires and soft springs.

They make a noticeable difference on SU set-ups too.
Although I would not use a hiem on the frame mounting end like the ones pictured above. A urethane bushing is a much better choice there.

I'm gonna try and build some myself, should I use urethane bushings at both ends? I realize a heim would probrably give the axle to much play and the urethane bushing should just about eliminate it..

Hiem on the axle end, it needs to articulate.

Re: Leaf spring axle wrap?
I have been in search for a thread like this for a while I cannot find what I am looking for? I have talked with alot of people about them and was told that they have to be mounted in a exact location for them to work properly, then some other people say that you will always get spring bind with them? Sorry for the hijack but it might help out both of us? Should the front mount be mounted with the front hanger like the picture above and the axle end be mounted on the bottom half of the axle? When I cycle the suspension with only 2 springs on it, it will not bind cause the spring tension is soft, but when I put the whole pack together it will bind, is there a trick to the placement or a different way to set them up and cycle?
