Very informative article about the pros and cons of each type of setup.

This picture looks familiar!! haha, I love em, made a huge difference in axle wrap and hookup with the deavers on my bronco.
Those were built by Mark Keifer at Southwest Performance

Stopped about 6 times per mile for 500 miles to put up ribbon and stakes. On the gas hard then on the brakes hard. Down to almost slicks. Did not notice any spring wrap. I also have a lot of seat time in a Stock Full that never had links. Won the CODE Class 8 championship with a Stock Full and ran it very hard all season. Never needed links. Never had links. Had to race prep the springs of course but when they were properly heat treated they never broke. The set on my 500hp bronco now has 6000 very hard prerun miles on them. Race tracks, not Glamis. Like I said, minority of one. Carry on.
Chris, out of curiosity, are you running custom leaf packs? The reason I ask is that may also contribute to you not needing them, a built pack specifically for your Bronco may work a hell of a lot better. Also, I saw you said never driven on them... I would be curious if you hop into a Bronco that does have them, you might notice a slight smoother difference to SteveG's point......

Re: Leaf spring axle wrap?
I was looking on another site to fix the wrap and a guy mentioned some caltracs...on their link all I found were ones for the Lightnings.....
heres how they work/ pictures:

would those be good for a 01 f150 with F79 deavers?

I don't know if I'd trust that in desert racing. That aluminum bushing would seem to put a lot more stress into the spring when the axle articulates. Probably great for drag racing though. Also, I'd be leery of the upper bolt on that setup hitting the top of the spring as well as you get on and off the power in the bumps. Could accelerate spring failure.

Re: Leaf spring axle wrap?
The CalTracs are used and recommended for drag racing... I to think they would be problematic in long travel articulation situations, but they work well to help hook these big trucks to the drag strip!

Re: Leaf spring axle wrap?
thats what I was thinking. what would be a good system besides welding on brackets to a crossmember (or make a crossmember) and tabs on the axle and have heims on the ends, or is that the best?

Re: Leaf spring axle wrap?
I like the one that 78crew posted. Pdank's drawing looks like the same thing. That's what I'd do.

Re: Leaf spring axle wrap?
A two link can be thought of like a four link with the leaves forming the upper links. You have to have good separation at the axle end and the mount point on the frame is set with caveman cad. I like to start with the axle end of the links directly under the axle tube. We use a Johnny joint at the axle and bushing assembly at the frame.
A single ladder bar is really effective and relatively easy to set up but the don't seem to keep up with long travel springs as well. They're totally effective since the axle cant wrap at all.
I wonder if some of Wilson's experience isn't from shock setup. Some mount systems are better than others at wrap resistance.
