Broke 2 wheels at 80mph
I'm running "street" bfg KM2's and some cheap mickey thompson rims now and have had like 8 flats and a couple broken wheels lately. I know a lot of guys run Robbie's and Walker's but I've seen those break too. So my question is what is the toughest wheel/tire combo in the desert that is affordable? I've been looking at the H1 beadlocks with the military radials on them and wondering if they compare to projects. I'm not racing yet, just training. 80% dirt, 20% asphault so I don't care how they balance.
Wheels break 43 seconds in. Stupid rock.

35 X 17? Short sidewall. Go with projects and a forged wheel......... Or you could try not hitting boulders........

I run 33's on 17's so what I have to do is run ALOT of tire pressure to save the wheel,I run 32 in the frint and 28 out back, I wish I could run lower psi but with such a short sidewall thats what you have to do.....try bumping up you psi

Re: Broke 2 wheels at 80mph
I believe the H1 beadlocks are all steel and very heavy, and the Military radials are still just a steel belted radial. Some of them have a runflat in them but this just adds to the un-sprung weight and will only help you limp back once the tire is blown. A good forged rim will be cheaper in the long run than replacing them over and over again. A good set of Kevlar belted Projects should help quite a bit as they have a lot less sidewall flex than a normal radial tire. Just my $.02

Forged Alcoas and more pressure. 20" KMCs wrapped in 35" Toyos lived on my Bronco at 35psi. What bolt pattern do you need?

Look for a set of APPs or if you can buy new, Method Forged. I believe Fabtech had an unsold set of 6 lug APPs at the last Curt Leduc meet.
