Attn: Baja 1000 Racers and Race Teams - I need your radio frequencies
Hey guys -
I will once again be helping Weatherman, et al track the Baja 1000 from the comfort of my big white chair here in Hesperia.
I really need your race team radio frequencies. Whether you are a PCI customer or not as I don't have access to their database. Please send me your race radio frequencies and any contact info you want me to have relating to your chase vehicles, teams, US contact numbers etc.
In the event we need to contact your chase team having your radio frequency is critical. You can either send me a PM here on RDC or send me the info at [email protected]
I am praying for a fun safe race for all of you.
Kim

The MAG 7 Primary is 153.380 and MAG 7 Secondary is 150.830.
On the MAG 7 Web site, we have a list of several other team frequencies so you may want to check this link

Hi Kim,
I'll send my team's frequency once we pay our entry fee and get a race #. But I wanted to run something by you and anyone else who might be interested.
It sounds like there will be at least a few teams running these new SPOT/DeLorme devices (http://www.findmespot.com/en/index.php?cid=219) where you can send via satellite a custom text/email/social network status update from just about anywhere on the course.
I don't know how you're set up on race day to communicate with Weatherman, but if it makes sense, is possible, and if you (and anyone else using the device) are interested, I think it could potentially be very valuable if we coordinate something with people using these devices so updates can be relayed if needed.
Since these messages can be sent instantly to anyone on the chase team with a working cell phone, a Weatherman relay would probably be a last resort, but it's just one more line of communication between racer, chaser and potentially emergency services that can be opened.
Again, I don't know exactly how you're all set up for the peninsula run and there might be a better way to do this, but we could potentially use these similar to the way Weatherman has had access to IRC live tracking in other races, except this would have the capability of adding a custom message (i.e. "At RM 500, need tie rod").
It could be as simple as people sending these updates to your email. Or, if there are more than a few, we could set up something through Twitter. Any team who participates could set up a dedicated Twitter account, you could set up your own, and then follow each of these team's Twitter feeds.
On your home Twitter page you would see all team updates scroll as they come in. Then if you wanted to see a specific team you could just click on their page and see all their updates in one place.
If this is something that you think could work, let us know. And anyone else who plans on using this device, chime in.
Thanks!

Brandt -
I will be at home with a couple of my computers running. I will have the tracking website up and running along with the Weatherman stream. As teams call in asking for their racers status I will gather the info and send it via instant message to whomever is at the observatory. I have cell numbers for all of SCORE ops, medical director, doc Grange etc. Let me know what you need from me regarding contact info. By all means if anyone wants to include me in their spot tracker message list please feel free to do so.

Re: Attn: Baja 1000 Racers and Race Teams - I need your radio frequencies
For all you old school people who dont want your freq. out there and dont want your compatition to hear your radio traffic, I think the IRC kind of negates that. Of course that doesn't apply to MORE, As they dont use the IRC. You can still send bogus info to fake out the easedropers. at least make sure the race car has the freq. writen in it, I have came across broken down racers who had no idea what there main freq. is. then we had to bother the weatherman to get there chase out to them. Hey broken down car do you know what your freq. is so we can contact your chase,? ah yah, channel 1. That dont work in VFO mode.
