4wd Locks
I heard someone say that it's safe to drive with the locks on. That way you don't have to get off the truck and lock everytime you want to change from 2wd to 4wd...??? Any truth to that? I would imagine that it is a bad idea, right?

Re: 4wd Locks
I'm assuming you mean leaving the front hubs locked. I do it when ever I think I may get into a mess. Like in the desert or in snow. that way I can just pull back on the handle. You will take a hit in gas mileage, but off road or in other crap conditions that should not be your biggest worry anyways.

Yes, that's what I meant.. leaving the front hubs locked. I was just wondering if doing that for every day driving will hurt anything mechanically, or something I just shouldn't do....

Re: 4wd Locks
Won't hurt anything except perhaps a little gas mileage. When I lived in sonow country, I left them locked all winter. Prerunning in trucks with hubs, we leave them locked the whole time.

Re: 4wd Locks
I used to leave my 4wd Toyota hubs locked all the time when I was in town. The only time I unlocked them is if I was doing highway travel. Never hurt anything except slightly more wear on the half shafts and slightly worse mileage.
