I saw the Predator car loose a belt within 100ft of the starting line and I knew they werent going to have a chance.
Class 4 winner:
Brand new car
Stopped for a nap
Stopped for calistenics
Brand new car
Solo'd the race
He was going for a finish to prove the car and the abilities of TMR.

I think that is definitally a viable excuse for Lafortune..... What about the Cops car? We werent racing agaisnt them, but we held a nice pre-running pace and were way in front by the end of the race.. what was up? they had to be stuck for a long time somewhere?

how's class 4 shaping up for the 1000
After mile 950 our last fuel stop, I think Jason had his 2nd wind, (for the 4th time) we really charged hard and were feeling good about getting closer to 401. TMR will be charging hard once they are more familiarized with the car.

Re: how's class 4 shaping up for the 1000
Zac was correct in his previous post since he was part of my Class 4 team at last years Baja 1000 that we won beating all the Ecotec powered truck and buggy classes. This win came even with our 58 minute speeding penalty, no pre run and no prior Baja races under our belt. In addition to the above we won class 4 with my 103" wheelbase Class 3000 car that Green Army now owns.
I don't understand why these 2.4L Ecotec long wheelbase class 4 (Class 10 everywhere else) cars don't put up similar numbers to say Justin Davis and David Caspino in this race, especially since they say they had no issues? I like this class very much, however the Class 4's need to beat the Trophylites or you might as well own a Trophylite for the purse unless COPS is going to continue with the 10k offer each race. just sayin

To run up front at the 1000 you need to run 100% all the time. If you can't, you get additional drivers that can. Even then, the time gap from the "fast" guys to the rest can be significant.

Re: how's class 4 shaping up for the 1000
Something must have happened down course. At Ojos Callaway in the COPS car was only five minutes ahead of the next class 4 car and was 2/3rds of the way through the 1600's that he started behind. But at El Crucero at the drivers change he had checked out and were in the middle of the the class 12's. They did the drivers change and hung around a bit, but never did see another class 4 car. I am trying to find out what caused the down time. Props the the Callaway crew for the emergency prep/fix to the COPS car on contingency day, which included pulling the engine from the tranny three times to get the shift linkage and T.O. bearing right plus redoing the toe, caster and shock placement on the front end. Without this work the car wouldn't have made it 30 miles. We never did get the high zoot HD GPS to work.

Had to adjust to adjust caster significantly (was straight up and down), adjust toe and someone put the shocks on backwards R vs L. The a-arm would have hit the reservoir if left as is, and ripped it off. I didn't mean my post to be negative, but did want to give big props to the Callaway crew (12 of us chasing the three COPS cars on the top 1/3rd) for identifying the issues and staying after it until it was right. We just wish we could have made the HD GPS work. Makes me love my 540c all the more.
