    Stolen 2.5\' king

I noticed during the hour and a half drive up to Rialto on saturday that my truck was riding unusually rough, but thought little of it until I got to the swapmeet to find that I had been relieved of my driver's side 10" 2.5 smoothbody w/res. The theft most likely occurred the night of the 27th between 11pm and 3am in the Vista/San Marcos area. I know that getting it back is a long shot, but it's worth a try. Any info would be appreciated. Given the situation, I am in the market for a replacement shock, same dimensions, preferably King, under $200, but I can't really be picky.

This seems to be getting very common. I suggest that everyone tack weld the Bolt onto their shock mount! Might be a pain to get it off but its worth having your shocks there when you look for them!!

I had a customer come into the shop mad because most of his bolts were lose....
The worst part was all of his bolts were lose, Beams, Radius arms, coil overs... etc...
After talking to him he found hardwear in his driveway when he got home... Some one was going to try and steal his whole front end...
People are going to try really crazy stuff to get parts for their trucks..
The worst part is they are willing to go to jail and ruin their adult life just for a few grand worth of parts...

HMMMM there needs to be a better way................
what about having special nuts made that require a key much like a lug nut they come in 1/2" threads. or using a spline nut that would require a small spline shaft to be inserted into the nut to remove. hhmmm.

Kyle Taylors spare tire mount uses a female splined hole and like a small axle has to be inserted into it to get it off, like a huge hex key.

    Re: Stolen 2.5\' king

I had really long allens with top locks on the barge. Some dirtbag tried to steal them and got 2 lose before he gave up. It was funny to see the bite marks from channel locks on the allen heads. They also make allen nuts, I"m thinking of putting these on top of the top locks next time also. Not every dirtbag carries around 2 sets of allen's....

I used a pop rivet stuck in a hole drilled into the extra threads on my offroad lights to keep the nuts from being removed. I imagine that would work for shocks too, and rivets aren't to hard to drill out.

RE:"what about having special nuts made that require a key much like a lug nut they come in 1/2" threads. "

Actually try using 12 point MS nuts. You'd be suprised how many crooks don't come prepared with 12 point sockets or wrenches. Most scumbags just use a couple of crescent wrenches so they don't have to lug around a bunch of different size tools.
