MDR site updated - press releases
http://www.mdrracing.com/california/

They also plan to get the discussion forum running again soon since it crashed after the accident.
Cross your fingers for the Superstion series put on by MDR productions. Since it's a different company, they should not be held back because of the investigation.
We need to let the BLM know how we feel about anything we don't like. Like the changes that are causing DRIVE to cancel the 2011 season. If we keep quiet, they wont know how we feel and will keep shuting down our racing!

I called Patricia yesterday. She said we need to call the BLM and let them know how we feel. Don't let them get away with changing how things are, or we will lose desert racing. They are talking about adopting NV rules about closed courses and whatnot. Which will drive up entry fees and such.

Re: Drive
We did not make the decision without a plan for moving forward. Some history about how this came about might help.
In 2007 a Guidebook was adopted by California BLM from Nevada BLM. This book is a tool for the BLM to follow in order to comply with Federal regulations. That book specifically required cost recovery for certain situations. Car and truck racings falls into one of those situations. If you read the BLM report on the Internal Investigation that was done it's clear that the BLM was not following it. They in no way tried to hide it. The California State Director sent a memorandon of instruction down with that report requiring the local offices to start following the guidebook. It is not the local offices that are wanting to implement this. It is coming from the top.
Going forward we need to work with our local offices to develope solutions to this problem than send them up the chain together. The local offices are taking heat from state and federal. If we go around the local office all it does is put more heat on them which will make it impossible to work with them. At the same time we will be reviewing the Federal law that the guidebook refers to in order to make sure that everything is correct. All this will take some time. It's not going to happen over night. I can tell you that if we go straight to the top everything will stop there. Just for FYI you can go to the BLM site under information and look at the handbook for SRP Information that has been in affect since 2007 here in California.

Re: MDR site updated - press releases
These are the hurdles that all Promoter's are going to have to do. Also the report states that if the Blm doesn't feel that they can cover event or meet the requirements in the permit process than they do not have to issue the permit, public safety first. That will be a hard arguement to beat.

Did Patricia say if she had a schedule or idea when they would try and return?

Re: MDR site updated - press releases
Patricia submitted her schedule for permits earlier this year and is awaiting a response. Officially her permit status is on hold pending the Incident report from the lead investigative agency which is the CHP. Nothing can happen until that information is brought forth. Jim and Patricia have not given up and never did but the fact remains she cannot move foward until this report shows up. When that will be only can be anwsered by the agency themselves. MDR's phone number is active and Patricia is at work every day, feel free to call her and ask questions. We all know she does not post on the internet but she does anwser her calls. Many will blame her for this but the reality is we all share a little blame and others knew they were risking danger when they stood so close to the course but by their own free will they chose to put themselves in dangers way and Patricia cannot be blamed for that.

Re: MDR site updated - press releases
Closed Course is BS.
Why blame anyone? No one is to blame, it is however 100% the responsibilities of the people who were standing to close not to be standing there.
