    1990 Ranger Rebuild

It was decided that when we got back from the 1000 this year, my 1990 Ranger would go into the shop (Solo Motorsports) for a rebuild. I bought the truck right here on Race-Dezert. I bought it to replace my first Ranger that I really regretted trading off a few years back. Origional build- the cab cage, engine cage, and front suspension was done by Solo, the rear bed cage was done by Desolate, and I believe the 4.0L was installed by the PO.

    1990 Ranger standard cab-long bed
    1993 4.0L/ 5 speed/ 8.8 rear end
Solo 1 ton king pin beams/radius arms
    3" King coil-overs/ SAW bumps
    Deavers/flipped shackles/ 2.5" SAW's
    Hannaman 2000+ update glass
    Glassworks Stroppe bedsides
Custom sheet metal dash/ Beard lowback seats
    35" Baja T/A's

Here are a few pics of it when I first bought it-

    Re: 1990 Ranger Rebuild

The guys at Solo made several needed repairs. They added my race radio, GPS, and intercom. They also added a few other things I wanted- front skidplate, light rack, jack mount, and a storage box mount. I bought set of matching wheels and performed a bunch of much needed maintenance. All this was in preparation to take it down to the 1000 on my vacation. Here's a few more pics after we went through it-

Here's how it looks now, there's no turning back at this point. Major upgrade plans include-

    Solo back half/four link
    New cab cage
    450 hp TurnKey LS1/ TH400
    35 spline 9"
    Complete re-wiring

I'll try to keep this thread up as progress is made on the truck.

Finally got some update pics to post. The rear end is getting finished up now, lots of TIG welding by Tony at Solo.

A few update pics. Progress is slow right now, but will hopefully pick up soon as things start to come together.

Looking good but just one question, why the semi-floater with all that power and travel?
Nikita Khrushchev said"We can't expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism. "
