Ranger lug nuts

Is there a place that sell a higher quality lug nut for a ranger. Mine seem to get messed up pretty easily and have a cheap chrome plating that comes off. Well I need some new ones for my front end is there a better place to get them. In North Orange County Area.

Go to any decent parts store & ask them the same question, they should have something good in stock. If you don't find anything, post on here again & I'll get you a NAPA part number

Quite a few of the factory lug nuts are just a standard lug nut with a specially built cap that slides over the actual nut. These things are crap and might be what you are talking about.

McGard lug nuts have a lifetime warranty against the usual chip / peel / rust problems that most cheapo lug nuts have. McGard is probably one of the oldest and largest manufacturers of specialty lug nuts and locating them locally is usually very easy. If you want a good deal they can also be found cheap online at www.Jegs.com.

Another manufacturer that makes nice chrome lug nuts is Gorilla. They can be found locally and online at www.SummitRacing.com

If you are using the standard 1/2" studs, we distribute the Gorilla Lug Nut line. They are the best in the business. I reccomend using acorn bulge seat heat treated for a larger seating area that also provides greater strength on the hex and the threads as well. They also offer Stainless Steel and Lifetime Chrome Lug Nuts as well, although their standard offering is more thamn durable.

I used to work for Gorilla a few years back as National Sales Manager and while I could be biased, keep in mind that Discount Tire, Sears, Tire Rack, and several other professional wheel and tire companies use their goodies.

As a side note...Make sure you are using the correct lug nut for the wheels you have!!!
There is different types out there, conical seat (acorn) type, ball seat (rounded) etc.

Once in a while when I worked at America's Tire we'd pull wheels off that had the wrong type of lug nuts holding them on....SCARY. Good way for wheel to come off on the freeway.

Most custom wheels out there have a conical seat.

Are you making....or are there any out there that you know of.....for a 5/8 stud: hex conical seat that has the hex smaller than the seat diameter. Most that I find (and actually have a set too) for a 5/8 stud are a 1 inch (I believe off the top of my head) hex. I can't get a socket on the hex when it goes into the recess in the wheel.

Another thought that I had was throwing the wheels on the mill and boring another 5X5.5 pattern offset from the origianal pattern and then running the flat seat type lug on the face of the rim....whadya think?

Alright....now that I reread what I just wrote, even I'm confused......hopefully somebody can figure it out and let me know what they think!
