Re: lets try short course
I think no matter what, everyone is going to run the smallest desert tire they can find, so to think everyone is going to run super diggers, would not be realistic. I think the dot tire would be fine.

I like the wet weight idea, and I think we should also be able to run as a 2 seater if we want.

Re: lets try short course
What about just run a Glen Helen race to save some cost?

Hmmm, great idea...

As posted in the aforementioned thread:
"A class 9 short course class would be very cool and I bet you could run the same heat with the single buggies at Glen Helen etc... Standard class 9 desert rules; just add nerf bars, mesh on the front and change the tires and the cross over would be nothing! Don't allow gearing changes etc... just dial in the suspension and tires and then any legal desert car would be competitive with hardly any additional cost. Something new for you guys to toss around..." This guy is obviously brilliant and ahead of his time
I believe most cars would have a hard time passing the Lucas chassies requirements? I know I looked at a short course single buggy and found it needed a ton of $'s thrown at it just to meet the chassies requirements but it would have been perfectly good for the "Regional" or Glen Helen series. The costs for the local stuff were also @ 1/2 of the big show... Just keep it a 9 car and not a hermaphrodite (even thogh the Miss-Fit's really like them). Other rules might be: Use a min 10-12 gal cell rule so no one builds a short course specific car, no DB's, hotter motors, PS or other "Minor changes" and find a weight deal that works between ss and 2 seaters. The only change might be alum wheels as they are a little better and you could run the wider wheels on the front w/o adding additional stress... This would give you a great opportunity to run the same cars on a level field.

Re: lets try short course
The Glen Helen Baja Cup races come up often as a possible final race for the Pro-Nine series. Here is some info and the schedule to consider:
San Bernardino, Calif. - December 29, 2010 - After an exciting and successful 2010 season, the thrill and intensity of the Baja Cup Challenge Series returns to Glen Helen Raceway for 2011.
The 2011 Baja Cup Challenge Series will consist of four races - two during the day and two at night under the lights of Glen Helen. Like last year, there will be classes for a wide variety of off-road vehicles, from UTVs to Pro Trucks. And with drivers ranging from beginners to professionals, the 2011 Baja Cup Challenge Series looks to bring the same close racing that race fans and drivers alike have come to enjoy.
2011 Baja Cup Challenge Series:
April 9 - Day Race
July 9 - Night Race
August 27 - Day Race
December 17 - Night Race

Re: lets try short course
I am in but I would have to do it later in the year I agree make it the third pro nine desert series race
rules :
any dot tire on a steel 5 inch rim
and come on you have to allow grooving I groove my desert fronts it isnt that expensive ( I have a tool )
no small cells
same motor rules and trans rules
wet weight would be great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I give up a good 100lbs as it is 150 to Ward and Nate
if you car is built PROPERLY it is legal
as for a screen----------------??? I guess---wear a chest protector if you are a light weight---9 car isnt throwing that much mud for Christ sake-
a set of USED street tires at the tire store are usually free and a lot of places charge 20-30 a piece to cut them---
Buy me some blades for my tool and I will do them for a beverage--I enjoy it-----------
the Aug or Dec event I could do----I have commitments every other date. Aug would be best as it wouldnt effect the SNORE or MORE guys that race Dec otherwise it would mean three races on three weekends for me--------
