Agreed!! I took out the second battery and put the flame out in its place. The screen is just a short course rule (use the side of a shopping cart).

Re: lets try short course
Rob, This sounds like a good Idea! Im sure Lee would work with all the guys to make the desert cars legal with minimal if any changes. Get on it, maybe we could dust the car off and go racin without getting the crap beat out of us too much and so much prep.

Re: lets try short course
it sounds like we wont need the fire bottle, but the head and neck will be required.also to make the class as big as possable we will run with the lite class.i really want to try this ,the prep should be very little between races.also the cost of fuel,,missing work to pack everything such as firewood, anough food to feed an army, the camper, all the pit boxes, the list goes on.

We would be running with the lite class or in the lite class? The one thing that is a big turn-off for me on the is the mandatory tire change that I have seen Glenn Helen do. Those would be two issues that would change my vote.

You guys that would like to race Glen Helen Lucas Reg. should check out the Lite buggy rules, This is the class your 9 car falls into. You would be able to run any gears in your type 1 transaxle because the trannys are open, This is what some of you 9 guys have been asking for and now you can do it.

Re: lets try short course
I think the whole idea is not to race light buggy but to have our own class........... 9 cars do have a disadvantage to a irs car plus our compression really kills us for that class.

Re: lets try short course
Just remember guys: The more you keep them a "9 car" with out any changes, the more people that can and will race. If you open trannies and parts and deviate from a standard desert class 9, you'll create another specialty class with only a few guys who will shell out the coin to have a tranny built and/or other specialized stuff etc... IMO the object should be to keep the cars the same so you can run a race in the desert then a few weeks later the same car on the same prep at Glen Helen or??? with no parts changes keeping the field equal so there's more people who can race. Again IMO just tire/wheel and required safety equilp and find a weight deal that keeps the SS/2 seters equal and you have a winning formula that can draw any 9 car out there. I don't have a dog in this fight, but if you guys get this going (without whacky one off rules) I have been known to buy a racecar on a whim...
