SDSU hoops
congratulations are in order for coach steve fischers' aztec basketball team for their 19 and 0 record and # 6 national ranking thus far in the season. look for them to possibly break into the top 5 after winning at the"pit" against new mexico saturday. these guys are really playing well and it's nice to finally have a team at SDSU do well in any sport. the football program which was on the rise with coach brady hoke turning the program around in two short years was dealt a blow when hoke was offered and accepted the head coaching job at michigan, his dream job . i was pissed at first but you really can't blame the guy. it's prolly one of the top 5 coaching jobs in the country. hopefully, former defensive coordinator rocky long from hoke's coaching staff who accepted the new head coaching job can continue to bring back a taste of the good ole' days for the black and red. i realize this thread won't matter to most of the rdc members but for a few, this is really cool stuff having a winner back in town. go aztecs.

Re: SDSU hoops
Hopefully Steve Fisher can get SDSU Basketball to the Final Four or the Elite Eight this year.
Then, the recruits will follow.
Then, maybe they could steal Blue Chip players away from UCLA, Cal, Arizona, & Gonzaga.
Which could keep the program up for years to come.
They just need to beat BYU (17-1) on the road next week, to be considered a Elite team, and stay undefeated.
Since, they don't play in a top Conference such as the Big East, ACC, Big 12, Big 10, Pac 10, SEC.

i respectfully disagree with archie in that this year at least, the mountain west, from top to bottom is one of the strongest conferences in the country, with 4 of the teams in the top 20 in the nation. once more, due to their start times in the east where many of the writers are based, they won't get the ink or attention or recognition they're due. being undefeated at this point in the season can't be ignored even by the most hard core east coast bias. i agree that a road victory at the "Y" would icing on the cake and huge as far as conference play goes and in the eyes of the national press. the thing about this team is that even when they're flat, they find a way to win like the great teams do. i think if they keep their chit together and play to their abilities, and avoid injuries to the starters that a final four is certainly within their reach. i was afraid they'd fall on their face at the "pit" but new mexico, who have a very respectable program where no match. time will tell, but for now, SDSU's basketball team are some badass motherfarners and shouldn't be taken lightly by any team in the nation including duke, north carolina, or anyone else. while a loss or three may be in their future [or not] i just can't see them getting blown out by anyone. i never thought i'd see the day where a SDSU basketball game would be the hottest ticket in town. way to ball aztecs.

As a Ute fan, nothing would make me happier than SDSU taking BYU down. Especially after the whipping they handed us.

Re: SDSU hoops
tomorrow night, the 4th ranked aztecs, and one of only two major universities still unbeaten, with number 1 ohio state the other, will take it's 20 and 0 record and play the dog ass, slow movin', boring, lily white BYU cougars, 18 and 1, and ranked 8th or 9th or whatever it is in perhaps the biggest game in either schools history and certainly in the mountain west conference history for sure. this game will be huge for SDSU and may very well elevate the aztecs to the number 2 spot in the country with the # 2 and 3 teams having lost their games. good luck boys. time to GET SOME!! here kitty kitty....nice kitty......SPLAT..... oh poor kitty........poor poor kitty. ja ja ja farner BYU. i've hated those guys forever. go aztecs.

So with "the monetary support of an entire religion behind you and recruit worldwide" they can only get "dog ass, slow movin', boring, lily white" players. Which is it, or are you just a sore looser? I roomed with several BYU Football and Basketball players, they were more broke than I was. Saying BYU doesn't play by the rules is stupid of you, or maybe you are just letting your "hate" get the better of you.
