wow ramsey...you sure set me straight. all this time, with all the magnificent temples the mormon church has built all over the place and the one in la jolla in particular and the fact that they send folks all over the world on missions, i guess i was mistaken about BYU having any resources for an athletic program when they don't get any financial support from the mormon church. it's a wonder that their students can afford to attend games in that run down 22,000 capacity sports pavillion they're forced to play in, let alone following their teams all over the country filling the stands and stadiums with powder blue and white. i guess that's why, when their football team plays in a bowl game, alot of folks say that when the "Y" fans show up, they bring the ten commandments and a 20 dollar bill with them and they don't break either one of em'. i can see where they're strapped for dough and it's a wonder they can afford to field any teams at all. they even have the NCAA feeling sorry for them by allowing BYU student athletes to participate in sports after serving their missions abroad when they're 24 or 25 yrs. old. married with a couple of kids to play against mostly teenagers. but kidding aside and in all seriousness, i do regret some of my comments regarding their student athletes. i shouldn't have done it. it was a bush comment and i'd take it back if i could. that being said, after having a flat night and folding on the road against the "Y", the aztecs rebounded at home by thrashing wyoming in a big fashion while BYU had a rough night at the pit against new mexico where SDSU and wyoming both earned victories. and it's my guess that the cougars just might see a different team when they find their way to san diego for a rematch. and finally, it sure must be frustrating for you, ramsey, to be so much smarter than everyone else around you in your world. frustrating indeed and i do thank you for straightening my stoopid ass out. it's a good thing that, as dumb as i am, that i'm at least smart enough to add to what i know and getting a lesson and getting my ass chewed out for getting a tad too caught up in a game from someone who knows it all and has never been wrong about anything in his life is a true honor indeed. i am humbled to no end....

take your last sentence and apply it yourself . the web is a great thing. BYU is sponsored [owned] by the mormon church. they have campuses in idaho, hawaii, as well as in utah. they have a student body of 33,000 students from all 50 states, the district of columbia, and 115 countries from around the world. they have one of the nations strongest alumni support groups which translates into big financial support as well partially because they have so many successful folks coming out of their schools and also rely on a worldwide fan base as well. they are to the church of LDS what notre dame is to catholics. small time, no money huh? their influence is huge to the degree that them and utah are the ONLY two schools that the NCAA will allow for their athletes to leave school for their two year missions and come back and even red shirt those athletes if they choose making it common for BYU senior football players to be 24 or 25 years old, married with families. nice even playing field for sure... look, i had a whole bunch of different stuff jotted down to prove my point but anyone can do a quick search for themselves to find out how deprived and lacking of funds the BYU athetic department is [quack] but instead, i think i'll just let the fact that BYU recently signed with ESPN sports to do an 8 game regular season tv deal that includes the university of texas and other big time programs on their schedule that is a lot like the one notre dame has in place speak for itself. so again ramsey, read your last sentence and tell us all about the poor little mormon school in utah. BYU is a big time program with big time money behind it and that's a stone cold fact.

    Re: SDSU hoops

mean while back in the real world, the aztecs barely hung on last night with a last second shot to defeat an improving colorado state team 56-54. the "Y" also survived a close one with wyoming and both SDSU and BYU are tied in conference play with 7 and 1 records. SDSU is ranked # 6, while BYU is close behind at # 7 in most major polls in the national rankings. every since the game against the cougars where they only shot 34%, they've shot way below their average prior to that meeting and have been flat, shooting only about 40% from the field since . they'll have to step it up if they expect to go far in the NCAA tournament that's for sure. but for now, wins are wins and the aztec fans will take it and hope the aztec roundballers get their touch back before the big one starts. go aztecs...byu still blows.

exactly what part of my last few posts aren't accurate? is it the part about the ESPN deal? look. to say that BYU isn't a big time program is just ignorant ramsey. they have a hell of a program there and have one of the finest in the nation. this is in part why they took their football program out of the mountain west conference to go independent to play with the other big dogs. to say that they're operating on the monetary level of a california state university program or don't have stronger alumni backing just isn't correct. you can believe what you want. i don't care. i didn't like em' when they first started beating up on SDSU a long time ago and i still don't like em' now. is that ok with you? not that i care you understand.

    Re: SDSU hoops

the number 6 [in both polls] aztecs, with a record of 23 and 1 will host utah tonight at 7:30 at viejas arena. should be a tight game with the utah team desperate to shake off three straight setbacks in a row. coach fisher is not taking them lightly. all of the remaining home games are sold out. never thought i'd ever see the day when that would happen to any aztec program. way to go black and red. at least 3 teams and more likely 4 will represent the mountain west in the upcoming NCAA tourney. not bad..not bad at all. it's nice to be able to root for a local team that's in the national spotlight for a change. very cool.
