Re: Sawtooth canyon
the real truth is that 99% of shooters are off-roaders...and about 90% of off-roaders are shooters. YOu can deny environmental impacts all day long if you like. Any ignoramus can see the effects of unmanaged OHV use on the dezert. I'm not saying close everything down, I'm just saying if the effects can't be managed because riders won't follow rules, areas will be closed and tighter enforcement will follow. Can you name me one area where the use is sustainable?

Re: Sawtooth canyon
And again, you exagerate with your numbers. Do you use 99% because the folks had to leave the pavement and use a dirt road to get to the point they want to shoot at? That does not make them off road recreationalists. If you want to go by that logic, then every back country hiker is an avid off roader and should be supporting keeping roads and trails open! Prior to 1976, all Federal land that was a forest and pretty much all BLM land was open use. That meant you could do what you wanted. Desert motorcycle racing hit it;s peak about thsi same time, with races like B to V having over 3500 entrants, yet the very land you claim they were destroying is now designated as a National Monument. How can that be if it was destroyed by unmanaged off road abuse? As far as one area where use is sustainable, I haven't seen Johnson or Stoddard Valleys looking like total wastelands where nothing lives and any lifeform that enters drops dead. Take your classic lefty whacko arguments back to the kindergartners where you can tell them we also kill baby seals and Bambi so you can be believed by the uneducated unknowing children you love to brainwash. It won't work here with the adults.

Re: Sawtooth canyon
I mean wherever there are shooters, 95% of the time there are dirt bikes or hopped up jeeps.
wherever there are off-road gatherings there are shooters in 90% of the groups. There are also a large percentage of potheads and alcoholics. I live in the desert I've seen it over and over. We also like to bring our stereos and blast Metallica.

Metallica? LOL, A bit dated, but last I heard listening to music was not a crime
Hoping up jeeps or other street vehicles is not a crime, Last time I checked, As long as they are smog legal
Achohol, ya can still legal to purchase,Pot you liberals have made it practical legal
to purchase at the corner store, so dont blame us on that one,
In most cases, shooting is perfectly legal, with a suitable back stop, I went target shooting with my family this
past weekend as a matter of fact, we left the place cleaner than we found it )And we didnt even need beer
or any other substance to enhance our shooting experience, it was perfect weather
These people see our sport though their own distorted glasses,
I was born and raised camping with my family on public lands, third generation.
Our sport promotes family values, gets kids in the out doors and away from the TV and video games
I spoke directly to Roxie Troast regarding this problem (Barstow Field Maneger) , and OHV, or ORV as you trolls prefer that acronym
were not the entire reason Sawtooth was closed.
There were rave parties, locals dumping trash and other problems, But we OHV types are such an easy target for all societies woes.
Enough, Im done feeding this troll

Re: Sawtooth canyon
did you check to make sure that it wasn't private land? you know you must have permission to shoot on private land. In some areas of the desert public land is only open to shotgun shooting..were you aware of this rule and did you follow it?
bottom line--another one of the 95% of off-roaders who are shooters. thanks for the testimony!
