Class 8 Build
so im sure that this has been talked about before, I am wondering what ford frame would be best to start a new class 8 project. Know that c and d likes the early 80s ford frames but would like to know what others have found to be good. this truck will have I beams and linked in the rear of course. Any info would be great, also pictures would be way awesome.

Re: Class 8 Build
2005 gets you an ideal 125" wheelbase, huge advantage over the older Ford frames which have a 116" wheelbase. Another advantage of these frames is the engine mounting location. Look at the Apmudia Geiser class 8 as an example. Of course that would require you to build an A-arm truck instead of I-beams which if done properly would be another advantage (much more money but class 8 is a big buck class if you want to be a contender).
It's not about how much faster you can go, it's about how much longer you can go faster.

Re: Class 8 Build
so the build has begun, we have chosen a 1982 ford frame. we like it because it kicks up in the rear and if we notch it, which is legal now, then we can get it to sit even lower. just got the frame back from the sand blaster, will begin building a jig for the frame. going to be a great truck. i will try to post pictures of it being built.

Re: Class 8 Build
here are some more pictures, not much progress as of now, been busy welding the rear links, gathering parts and such. Got the lower link tabs welded on the Dirt Tech housing, Rapped some new Toyos around Some new Method wheels. The lower links i will post up tonight, those are courtesy of Ironhorse Customs, (Jason Horsely). They are bad ass. Also, we have recieved all of our shox from Fox, thanks to Randy Potter, them 4.4 bypasses are freakin awesome. The billet tabs are from Summit Machine, they also build our upper four link bars,(out of aluminum) our front and rear hubs, Pictures soon. Tube clamps, and weld washers. We will also be putting the Jimmy Joint to the test, a Real rebuildable Heim.
