Re: bbc or stroker
Have you looked into any gen 3 motors? Pretty easy to make good reliable power and if you buy a truck motor they are cheap, like the lq9

Re: bbc or stroker
Just as a reference point.....I just took delivery on my new 521 BBF. New SVO block, new rotator 4340 forged from eagle, rebuilt SCJ heads with new everything. Total was $9k including dyno. Ended up with 640 hp and 717 torque. $14/hp. Could of easily got 700 hp for the same $ but went conservative for durability.

I agree, new technology is the way to go, plus bone stock the ls's are bulletproof, my dd is about to hit 300k, still running strong. Plus you'll have something that is exploding with aftermarket support. I'd have a 5.3 in the race truck, but not approved for tech yet. Probably not too far off thou.

Keep the stroker...lighter compared to the bbc and will rev better.
Ive seen lots of coments from other places regarding thoose strokers and they arent to good, 80% of the time for a good engine they advise to run a specific 383 crank and not a 400 crank just saying..

Re: bbc or stroker
Good posts. I'm looking for a 383 stroker crate motor for my DD K5 Blazer. Demon Engines (either Sante Fe Springs or Torrance) makes a budget minded 454 crate motor. There's an article in Car Craft regarding their 454. I tried calling them and have yet to receive a call back. Good luck.
