New beam design class 5? Who, where???
I heard there is a NEW front end beam design that has been kickin arse in Class 5.
Allegedly, the design uses 6" longer arms and they mount BEHIND the beam using a design similar to a rear trailing arm.
Would love to see / hear more about this. Also allegedly it pulls 18" of travel.
I searched but could not find. Anybody know anything???
The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't.

Re: New beam design class 5? Who, where???
Sounds interesting, but one off pieces and parts sound expensive, as well as gaining 2.5 to 3" of travel really that much faster?? Looks to me like the angularity of the front arms become an issue when you get near those travel numbers, even though everything else clears. It is hard enough for a top dog Fodrill arm to last very long, these seem interesting, but probably not much test time, WHat do I know, SHOW US THE GOODS!!!!! Not really that muck difference in lap times between the BEST 16 Cars, 12 cars and Class 5 cars. Seems like a 2.5 x 10" bypass and a 2.0 x 12 coil over could be optimised to dampen better, and stay cool longer than re-inventing the beam arm, BUT, SHOW US THE GOODS. Remember 1 FLAT TIRE IS SOMETIMES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WINNING AND LOOSING IN THESE CLASSES.

I remember seeing someone years ago, that used what looked like a 2" hollow spindle snout on the end of a beam, with a custom fabricated set of arms, seems it was an old 10 car, maybe from the "Trophy Truck Killer" days?? Also there is a picture of some long front arms on a beam car out of Mosebilt, saw it on "Glamis Dunes".

Allegedly getting 18" of travel out of a beam design - allegedly he's been winning C5 races. That's all I know.
