SuperLite Series announces contract with Lucas Oil Off-Road Series for CBS, SPEED TV

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

SuperLite Racing series announces contract with Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series for CBS, SPEED TV

Television deal brings heart-in-your-throat dirt racing action to primetime

RENO, NV— Drivers, fans and sponsors know that the high-flying jumps, white-knuckled corners and fight-to-the-finish dirt track action of SuperLite racing was made for primetime national television — and through a new partnership with the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series fans will be able to get a front row seat to SuperLite racing through CBS and SPEED TV.

The two national television channels will now be broadcasting the SuperLite Championship Series and giving national television viewers what they want — the high-speed, dirt-and-adrenaline racing that has been featured in Maxim, Auto Week and Road and Track.

The new primetime contract reflects the remarkable growth of the SuperLite series and the national appeal of the dirt track stadium races that blend the big air and high-stakes excitement of motocross with the horsepower and speed of off-road racing.

“SuperLite has built a national base of loyal fans that is growing each year,” said Kevin Singleton, general manager of the SuperLite Championship Series. “Our national, primetime television coverage on CBS and SPEED TV will now allow more race fans across the country to experience the race day action that has made SuperLite racing the perfect spectator sport.”

SuperLite’s demanding dirt racing tests even the most talented driver’s reflexes and skill. Everyone from X Games Motocross medalists to dirt racing legends have lined up at the starting line to test their mettle against the suspension-squashing jumps, pedal-to-the-floor straightaways and tight turns of each SuperLite stop.

The 2011series features young, aggressive, talented drivers who are establishing themselves as the off-road stars of the future. Torchmate’s CJ Greaves, son of off-road legend and all-time dirt short-course winningest racer Johnny Greaves, is taking the skills that earned him the 2010 Dirt Sports Magazine’s Rookie of the Year award to the SuperLite series.

Greaves will have to fend off a number of already successful fellow competitors — like Dawson Kirchner, RJ Anderson, Pat Clark and 2010 series runner-up Chad George.

Walker Evans-sponsored Anderson took the checkered flag in the first stop of the SuperLite series at Firebird International Raceway. Kirchner podiumed twice last season, and Kawasaki’s Chad George has established himself as a consistent, talented and experienced favorite for the podium each time he gets his hands on the steering wheel of his SuperLite truck.

“SuperLite is attracting the premiere young driving talent in the nation,” said Singleton. “These are the names you will remember and be hearing now and in the future as the future legends of off-road racing.”

The young guns will have to contend with a field that includes motocross sensation and Metal Mulish/General Tire racer Jeff “Ox” Kargola and Jessie Johnson, the brother of famed NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson.

The SuperLite series, which kicked off March 19 at the Firebird International Raceway in Arizona and runs through December, features 16 races in Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah.

The series’ unique “Arrive and Drive” program allows race fans to become off-road racers for a day or a season, with race-ready packages that include a SuperLite truck and a dedicated race crew.

CBS will broadcast parts of the SuperLite Championship Series and SPEED TV will feature 8, 30-minute shows — each giving viewers a front-and-center seat to the highlights and behind-the-scenes action of the races.

All of the action of each of the races, as well as a wealth of interviews and race analysis, will also be available on the new, 24/7 online channel “Live on Dirt,” which will be launched in May. Check back for details on “Live on Dirt” and airtimes of each SuperLite television episode.

The SuperLite series, part of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, takes to the track again on April 16 and 17 at Speedworld Motor Speedway in Surprise, AZ. For more information on The SuperLite Championship Series or the “Arrive & Drive” program please visit www.superlitechampionship.com.

    AWESOME NEWS !!

In late 09 we made a decision S/L was the venue to take Chad to the next levels. It was a tough call, the trucks were not that great, the infrastructure at S/L was struggling, the respect of other classes was low and the competition was weak. One thing that was always consistent and encouraging was the VISION and COMMITMENT by the SL management and ownwership to improve and make it great.

Fast Forward to 2011, without question SL is the place to be for up and coming young drivers and teams. The trucks are great, the infrastructure/crew are solid,people/fans and racers look forward to the races and the competition is fierce.

The management and ownership have not waivered in their vision nor commitment !

This TV package seals the deal we are supporters for life! When Chad is winning races in PRO 2, we will always owe a debt of gratitude to this great program

The Superlite Class is going to be a throwdown this season with many great drivers in the class. I will be racing my #21 Forgiven Energy sponsored truck this season and can't wait to get out there every month for the Lucas Oil Off-Road racing series. I met Ken Johnson at my first ever UTV race at the Del Mar fairgrounds, where I drove my 4-seater Pro-Craft Rhino from my house to the fairgrounds because I did not have a trailer yet (luckily no cops saw me). After placing 2nd, I enetered every race and Grand Prix I could find.
I moved up to the Superlite Class last year and love every minute of it! The TV coverage is phenomenal as is the crew behind Superlites!
