Beadless in Yuma

Guys, my son and I are having a frustrating problem with our RC car. We loose the bead on the tires quite often. It happens mostly when landing off camber from a jump or very sharp turns at speed. Usually it is one of the rear tires. Is there any tricks to keep this from happening so often? Maybe the rear tires are low quality? Worn out?

I remember I used to run a bead of superglue between the plastic rim and the rubber on the outside of the tire and the inside if you want a double beadlock, acts just like a beadlock. It is a bit tricky getting the tire off when it is worn out but new rims are pretty cheap. After doing this I never lost a bead on my Associated T3 after much abuse.

Yeah same here on my T3 and i never ran it all the way around i would just glue 4 corners of the tire on both sides and it held fine for me and there is still some hope of salvaging the rim.

clean the seat of the rim really good then mount the tire make sure the tire foam is evenly spread and run a line of ZAP cryoacrilic (sp?) glue watch the fingers stuff is very strong.... that should work

i did the super glue thing too. when it comes time to disassemble, buy a bottle of super glue remover. The stuff looks like water, and instantly washes super glue off. It will save you the cost of rims, and you dont have to take sandpaper to your hands to get the glue off of them. I bought the remover from tower hobbies back in the day

Before glueing, check wheel and tire seat for extra mold flashing and trim off excess with scissors. Then clean the seat area on the rim and tire with alcohol, let dry then glue. If the instant setting glue is too tricky, ZAP has a slow setting glue. On lighter off-road cars, a few drops might work o.k. but race cars and heavier monster trucks will need a full bead of glue. Another trick to help insure full contact is to snap a few large rubber bands around the tire tread to give a little extra pressure while the glue sets.

on my RC car i had the same problem but even after i glued it with superglue it still did it sometimes. the hobby stores sell tire glue but it works like crap. what i did was i superglued it then i ran a bead of sylicone aroung the rim and tire. it looked really cool cuz it looked like a real bead lock and it worked really well. i never had a problem with it.

make sure the tires/rims are very clean. I have an HPI RS4 SS car and if the tires were glued with dirt in there I can rip the tires right off the rims in the first corner I hit.

I find that CA glue (from any model store works better cause it actually flows around the bead before setting up. Just go check out your local hobby store and ask a few questions
