Re: IRAQ
Imagine if Clinton was President during 9-11. He would be ranting and ravings about how good America’s odds were since they just had 2 airplanes accidentally collide into some of the most notable structures in the US. The man (Clinton) would have been wheels up to Vegas after knowing how strong of odds of the country he was running actually had.
The sad part is that John Kerry is no smarter Clinton and he probably lies even more than Clinton did. If he were elected, he would probably be wondering the exact same thing or he would be trying to figure whom he lied too and how he could creatively cover his lie up to the American public. I don’t care what anybody says about Bush, the man is much more honest than Clinton or Kerry and for what he has had to work with, he has done well even though the current situations don’t look that appealing to the eyes.
As stated in a previous post, the hearts of these barbarians needs to be broken. We obviously aren’t going to be able to take them all out since they continue to just come out of the woodwork.
America is supposedly going to release all the prisoners they have collected over to the Iraqi’s. I do not think this needs to happen. The Iraqi’s don’t have the sophistication to rally ALL of their own people together for a common cause; I know that they wont have the sophistication to keep all of these prisoners from escaping. As far as Saddam goes, that guy is the perfect person to make an example out of, and yes, air it live on every Arab website and broadcasting station on the face of the earth.

Re: IRAQ
I served in the U.S. Army in a Special Forces Unit for 5 years and we used to move into 3rd world countries in an attempt to do the exact same thing they are doing in Iraq. I can tell you from experience that the only way to deal with Iraq at this point in time is through fear and intimidation.
After you have established fear amongst the poeple of Iraq then you can work on gaining thier trust. We made the mistake of trying to negotiate with the insurgents and local thugs and now they believe they can continue to do as they please. The military needs to go in and take care of business and stop screwing around.
Will Iraq ever be stable, probably not due to there religous beliefs and hatered towards the west, but I believe in 10 years we will be able to look back and say Iraq is a better place.

All the following quotes are from GWB regarding what he did/didn't do to protect us followed by the real facts.
"I am satisfied that I never saw any intelligence that indicated there was going to be an attack on America — at a time and a place, an attack." [Source: White House Web site]
Fact:
"The Aug. 6 report to Mr. Bush that was released Saturday evening was titled 'Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.' It cited evidence of active Qaeda cells in the United States, as well as reports that members of the terrorist organization had conducted recent surveillance of a federal building in Manhattan and could be preparing to stage hijackings." - NY Times, 4/12/04 By the time a CIA briefer gave President Bush the Aug. 6, 2001, President's Daily Brief headlined "Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US," the president had seen a stream of alarming reports on al Qaeda's intentions. So had Vice President Cheney and Bush's top national security team, according to newly declassified information released yesterday by the commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. In April and May 2001, for example, the intelligence community headlined some of those reports 'Bin Laden planning multiple operations,' 'Bin Laden network's plans advancing' and 'Bin Laden threats are real.'" - Washington Post, 4/14/04
"Had I known that the enemy was going to use airplanes to kill on that fateful morning, I would have done everything in my power to protect the American people." [Source: White House Web site]
Fact:
“White House officials acknowledged that U.S. intelligence officials informed President Bush weeks before the Sept. 11 attacks that bin Laden's terrorist network might try to hijack American planes.” - ABC, 3/16/02 "A Congressional inquiry into intelligence activities before Sept. 11 found 12 reports over a seven-year period suggesting that terrorists might use airplanes as weapons." - NY Times, 4/4/04
“You can't distinguish between al-Qaeda and Saddam.” [Source: White House Web site]
Fact:
“Three former Bush Administration officials who worked on intelligence and national security issues said the prewar evidence tying Al Qaeda was tenuous, exaggerated and often at odds with the conclusions of key intelligence agencies.” - National Journal, 8/9/03
The bottom line is that this unwaivering support for GWB without so much as questioning what he is doing is ridiculous. People are so ignorant of the actual issues and consequently simply vote and support someone just because of their political affiliation. DEM = Bad REP = Good/right. I'm not saying Kerry is better or would handle the situation better, but just don't automatically write him off or anyone else off just cause they are Dem. I hate to break it to you, but at this point we need some fresh ideas because much to the disappointment of many we are not going to nuke the Middle East. If GWB's current plan was working, I would say everyone needs to lay off and let it play out but its obvious its not working.
I don't care if viable ideas to ending this problem come from Kerry, GWB or France, if they seem like they might work, then we should consider them. I mean do you really want to continue the route we are going and witness more of our fellow citizens die with no end in site? You are all really fooling yourselfs if you think maintaining this current direction will fix Iraq.
Its time to stop playing politics and work together to solve this problem.

I can't believe you honestly think nuclear weapons are the key to winning this war.

[/ QUOTE ] Exactly. Actually even more precise weapons than the sloppy bombs dropped on Japan.

My point exactly, you don't get it. There we were fighting a war against a whole country, not a bunch of individual terrorists hiding behind innocent civilians. Sure, we could nuke em all, but then what would have been the point of even going to war since we would just be killing all the innocent Iraqi's that I thought we undertook this war to free?
Besides, why do we need to result to nuclear weapons, I thought GWB said major combat operations where over?

Re: IRAQ
Pre 9/11
EVERYONE knew that airport security was a joke.
ANYBODY could get on a domestic flight and overpower a stewardess or do enough damage to take the plane down.
The public would not have accepted the "inconvenience" of being searched.
The airlines would have gone broke if they let you think it was dangerous to get onboard a metal tube moving 500 mph six miles off the ground sitting between two kerosene-filled wings.. Guess what? It IS dangerous to fly under those circumstances. But wait, then some rag head quoting Allah and smelling like a sheep's crotch sits next to you, and you can't complain because then you are an anti-muslim Bad American, and as soon as you get off the plane the ACLU files suit against you and the airlines.
The airline attorneys decide that even though this lump of human waste is on an expired student visa studying nuclear physics (having been accepted to UCLA because of a quota forced on their admissions staff by liberal school administrators who live in a dreamworld), said foreigner deserves cash for his pain and suffering.
AFTER 9/11
You get searched,
your luggage gets searched, the bad-smelling kook next to you gets searched,
the guy who looks like a gangbanger DEFINITELY gets searched,
and everybody accepts it.
If you watched the news every night you noticed that things were being blown up everywhere else in the world except the USA. There was no magical fence keeping the crazies and religious nuts away from us. There still isn't. What seems to have changed is that the US armed forces finally got permission to go hunt down those backwoods, 12th century turds, and introduce them to the business end of modern weaponry.
They hate us, their offspring are taught to hate us, and it won't change. The media is overloading the airwaves with "shocking" news of prisoner mistreatment. So what if a female GI humiliates them? Every male in that part of the world has mistreated women for centuries. I bet most muslim women seeing that probably said the muslim equivalent of "you GO, girl!" when they saw it.

The point is we would be doing them all a big favor because they would get a chance to sit next to Alah and have their way with 75 virgins.
That's not such a bad deal, eh?
