    Future of MDR

I am sure most people are aware of the tragedy that happened at the MDR race last August. But what of the future of MDR? The website is still active and has some updated news releases. Anybody know what the future holds for MDR?

Until the CHP releases the results of their accident investigation, MDR doesn't have a future.

Any idea what the holdup is? I'm guessing interviews? The speed calcs, reconstruction, vehicle inspections, etc should be all done by now...

    Re: Future of MDR

The lastest info I found states the report has been completed and is undergoing "Internal review" within the CHP.

I have not been able to verify if this is true or not.

    Re: Future of MDR

I cant confirm this, but I had been told pretty much what DSRacing said. But what I heard about why the Internal Review was taking so long was because this accident was not in CHP jurisdiction, and they were only called in as the lone BLM agent did not know how to control the scene as this was much bigger then the BLM had ever handled. So because of this the CHP has been in limbo with finalizing the report. In all reality this should have been a BLM case and the CHP should not have had to take charge of the accident.

Considering the magnitude of the incident, the pending litigation and political interests involved, it doesn't suprise me the CHP are going over this report with a fine tooth comb. Having dealt with CHP directly in the past, it took them a month to complete an investigation and forward me a report for a simple non-injury accident. They are a slow moving bureaucracy

    Re: Future of MDR

The CHP has concurrent jurisdiction with BLM as it was a vehicle incident in the state of California. Due to the magnitude of the incident and the politically charged nature of the situation, CHP brought in senior investigators from Sacramento.

    Future of MDR

If they do survive, it's going to be really tough for them to put on a race with the new BLM proffer account that must be prepaid and insurance costs will probably be through the roof. They would definitely need some big time sponsor help.

I completely agree with you, however it would be nice to have races like the one this weekend in plaster city california somewhere else other than barstow. Can MORE do plaster city races?
