Re: Master Pull USA 500
For those that don't know we had a bad accident with the 603. Remember 1.2 miles into the loop Wes cautioned about the big drop...well the navigator called "straight over crest, stand on it" and Mike did. We estimate that the drop is 60-80 feet high. They flew off the top after just grabbing 4th gear which is in the 60mph range. They flew 220 feet and landed on the front bumper. Broke the left front thru bolt (king pin). Both driver, Mike, and codriver, Mongo, were hurt, codriver worse. Mongo was taken by our crew to the hospital in Reno where he was found to have shattered his L1 vertebrae. As we speak he is out of ICU and has been fitted with a clam shell brace. He will take further xrays in the morning to determine if the brace has his back aligned, if not he may need surgury.
Mongo has been racing with Mike since Mikes first race back in the early 90's when Mike became the godfather of the mini-trucks. Mongo stepped up this season to be 1 of 2 full time co-dogs. Mongo is one of the nicest pit guys and friend you'll ever have. Two years ago Hawthorne he was in Sacramento and we needed a 3rd member, he went over another friends place and pulled his out, drove it up to Hawthorne, helped install it at 2 in the morning then drove back home for prior family commitments.
I wish Mongo a speedy recovery. While he doesn't have email he is up to texting now. Please text him a quick note wishing him well as he lays flat on his back. His cell number is 916-267-3720. I will update this thread as his status changes. Thanks.

Mongo will be on his way home shortly. The clam shell did not align the spine for healing and surgury may be necessary.

Re: Master Pull USA 500
Bubbles and I took Mongo to the emergency hospital in Reno. Even though he was in terrible pain, he never lost his sense of humor. He, in fact, was outrageous. The doctors and nurses all were laughing. This will serve him well in the months of recovery to come. Mongo is a good guy.

I just emailed you the Fast Aid assistance application. Please have Mongo fill it out ASAP and get it back to me so we can get him some assistance. We at Fast Aid are hoping for a speedy recovery.
