Re: Inde-Fab's El Camino
A little inspiration. This car races in the Classix class in TORC and it's a front runner!

Inde Fab, Looken good. My bro lives in Rocklin.
The link didn't work for me, but I remember a Camo El Camino that ran in SODA for a while. I think his name was Kevin, he did a hell of a nice job on that one. He was friends with Mike Brew. Anybody remember or know what happen to it?

Re: Inde-Fab's El Camino
How the hell did I miss this thread? I've been waiting for some one to crank an El Camino out for years. Build looks like a solid R&D project. I hope you can keep the body stock as possible for sleeper points. Keep up the good work!

Re: Inde-Fab's El Camino
Thanks for the comments and inspiration!
Going to try and get as much done on this thing as possible over the next 10 days, getting it rigid enough to move inside asap for ideal work conditions, should roll out on it's own weight by oct 1 if thing go my way.
The factory frame will all be removed but the rear section is still there to keep the bed bodywork square till the chassis is complete, doing this also allows me to toss the stock axle back on to move it around with a little help from a forklift.
The factory bed, floorpan from seats forward, factory body panels with some mods, andeven the front and rear bumpers slip over my fabbed up bumpers,
so yeah I'm with ya on the stock apperance. from the side you cant see any fabwork really, and I will be driving it on the street daily so I'm trying ot keep it as sleeper as possible.
A fun build for sure.

Re: Inde-Fab's El Camino
Yessir!
got it inside the shop today so we can really shred, all frame seams tig'd, working on all the platework and wrapping up the tubework as well as rear links and an axle in the near future =) still gonna rock the t100 axle with some trussage for now till I wrap up all these projects and can throw down for the parts to build a floater and materials to make an axle jig.
Every day I'm so tempted to go the typical aluminum/dzus route on paneling but I appreciate the urge to keep it stockish, I watched two lane blacktop and rat rod utubes all night last night to get back in the right mindset to finish this thing the way originally intended when I planned this build about a year ago.

Re: Inde-Fab's El Camino
Bedcage all wrapped up, need more tubing for cell subframe, but otherwise chassis tubing is done from firewall back.
After 120 plus hours we got the rear suspension parts done.
no CAD, only cardboard templates and a handheld grinder.
My plasma took a dump right before this so I had to keep going to stay on shedule.
I did take time to make the jig so I could crank out some more links at 48, 54, and 60"
I have a funny feeling somebody will want a set after seeing how these turned out.
this setup is all built to the LOORRS PRO2 specs
I will also be building all the adjustment options into the mounts to make this chassis very tune-able at various ride heights and to get a better understanding of exactly how the setup responds to changes in geometry.
