Bighad, nobody knows what your dealing but......I wish a healthy recovery for you and your family. I do disagree with your comments. To all spectators at off road events, choose your area carefully and watch out.......This probably will not matter as I think spectating at an event will be done for very soon if the events are allowed at all.

    Re: Sloppy TV interview?

just one thing I noticed. brett said the wheel ripped out of his hands but on the in car it looks like he just hit full lock to the right (which would be away from the spectators) I do not see the wheel ripping out of his hands. It looks like the truck came off the jump a little sideways and when he landed he tried to correct but ran out of room. Does it look like that to anyone else? BTW Iam not saying he is lying or anything like that I am just stating what I see and asking if anyone else sees that.

you also have to look at the truck when its lying on the roof. look at the wheels it looks like he broke a tierod. the wheels are not pointing straight. one is turned in. so if he did break that when he landed then that plus the steering wheel would of not helped. if he did take off sideways then maybe with all the dust that night he didnt see exactly where the good spot on the take off was. i mean from the people who were there can help me on this but the dust that day was so bad. i was at the turn before the rock pile and when 2 trucks went by we couldnt see anything for like a min.

you might say this now but from what you put in your last post it does not seem that way.and if you think about it look at nascar people only see a bunch of rednecks as fans. look at basketball the only people that watch it are gangsters. every sport in the world has some type of people that watch or follow them and it seems like you havent moved on at all because if you did then you would have never said the stuff you did. yes its your opinion but it looks like in my eyes that you are just trying blame one person when if you think about it,, it was alot of peoples faults. so i hope you have a speedy recovery and your family to and good job on helping fast aid. im not trying to stir the pot on this but just trying to express what i feel after reading what you put.

    Mike,
I was down the hill maybe a 200 yards below the crash. The dust was pretty bad and I'm speculating but I think trying to get out of that dust put Brett a little closer to his left where the crowd was then maybe he normally would have run. In doing so, that would have put him off that lip in a way you wouldn't normally hit it, thus pitching the truck.

    Re: Sloppy TV interview?

Speculation is really hurting our sport right now....

We speculate that we all know what happened that night from: What we saw, What we read, What we hear, or What we watch. Unfortunately all of our speculations will be brought up along with another 1000 theories over then next many years of pending litigation. Not sure anyone in here really wants to be a subject matter expert for that.

Insurance regulators speculate that this will happen again so they want to charge promoters, racers, vendors, or like myself staff compaines that provide service for these events astronomical rates as a result. My premiums went up 6 times what I paid last year to cover my team with malpractice and liability insurance and we were not there and had nothing to do with this event in any way.

Governing agencies speculate that we wont be able to regulate, learn and make adjustments to make the sport safer so they will impose fees, and make amazing hoops IF they choose to grant permits for races. Not just the costs but heavier enforcement and more stringent rules for everyone to play by.

Bottom line to me, Last August changed every person that has anything remotely to do with this sport. Spectators, Racers, Promoters, Government, Volunteers, Staff, Vendors, Responders, Investigators, Family members and quite frankly every person that have business that supplies, outfits, or sells to racers in anyway. Some lives were touched harder and deeper than any of us will ever fully understand. I feel for every victim no matter how there were associated in this and that most certainly includes Brett as a victim. Speculating however to determine one cause if futile at this point. So many things went wrong. Unfortunately, as I look through this months issue of Off Road magazine, I see a photo spread that demonstrates we have still learned very little from August despite the reprecussions and the lives that have been changed forever.

I wish this was the last time this ever happens....

I liked the interview, but I also thought the video was a bit much. The lawsuits are BS also.

    Re: Sloppy TV interview?

I just typed out a 3 page response, and lost it. Dammit.

To sum up: if you stood that close to what you knew was a live race course, were injured as a result of your poor judgement, I am sorry for what happened to you as a result of this accident. However, my sympathy runs out for people who want to blame others for their own misjudgement rather quickly.

The best drivers on the planet crash their vehicles on the regular. It was a race, not a slow Sunday drive. If you put yourself in a dangerous spot and were injured as a result, first be thankful you lived, mourn for those who did not survive, and find blame in the mirror for what happened.

Not trying to single out Bighad, just pissed off at those who want to sue because they did something unwise.
