1989 Single Cab Chevy Prerunner

Hello everyone, I have read the forums here for quite some time and finally decided to make a profile and post my build. My name is PJ and as soon as I got my license at 16 I bought a 1989 Chevy C1500 for $500 of my hard earned money. Ever since then I have been messing around with it here and there trying to turn it into an "offroad truck" with my limited income and knowledge. When I first bought it, it had a flaky black paint job and was stock with a stepside bed. I got a normal bed off of my cousins friend, and rattle canned the rest of the truck white. I threw on the fabtech "long travel" kit in the front, and some deaver springs in the back and thought it was an offroad machine. After getting a new daily I decided to tear it down and do a complete build, with the help of my cousin, as this is my first project. We have been working on it for about a year now so we are pretty far along.

My buddy I got the arms from had a tie-rod issue so changed a little on the spindle




Boxed in frame where cut out

Moved motor back and down a little bit, new motor mounts




Fixed the lower arms to fit coilover and bypass shock

It sure is part of learning, after looking through some of these older pictures, I realized how crappy some of my welds were, they still arent great, but much improved!
Yeah... we just finished most of the new firewall yesterday, man I hate sheet metal work!
And I believe Mc Neil built them

2 blond chicks working on the ride. Nice work. Take a little more time and clean the edges on all your tabs and clean the tubes before you tack them your welds will be much cleaner and stronger. Good project. Have fun this stuff becomes addicting.

Yeah but I really wanted my own build so I can really learn, for me its a big learning experience. I built the motor myself at my local community college and now its time for the rest of the truck! haha
