    Car Audio

Does anyone know if it is posible to plug a laptop into an aftermarket head unit through the CD changer conections? I was thinkin of running an RCA cable from the laptop to the CD changer in connector. Then I need to figure out what wires to cross in the control cable to allow my head unit to recognize that theres a source from the CD changer connection and let me switch into that mode. My head unit doesnt allow me to go to CD changer mode unless it recognizes some kind of source.

So are you trying to get your mp3's on your computer to play on your head unit?

If you have an input RCA on your head unit use that...thats how I hooked up an MP3 player to a standard car head unit...if you dont have the input RCA jacks then I am not sure if you can do what you are trying to do.

I have the input jacks, they say "CD changer in". There is a DIN cable that connects the changer to the head unit, and that is what tells the head unit there is a changer hooked up. I need it to think there is a head unit hooked up. I think I need to cross some wires on the DIN plug

head unit is a Panasonic DF 66, same as the one in the Robby Gordon TT ad

I was playing with my older Alpine cassette head unit that had a changer hookup. It needed a digital signal (binary) to notify the headunit that something was there. They used to sell adapters (at least for some of the Alpines) that had RCA's that you could plug something into it and plug it into the DIN connector. That was 10 yrs or so ago.
