I wonder if that can be clarified so we racers don't make this mistake again. Back in '99 we raced vtor and helped a team, they walked out to a highway crossing to get parts, we took the parts (a battery) in to their truck and dropped if off, they walked back to their truck and finished later to get DQ'd for walking down the course?!?
This year we saw a class 10 car at Cottontail break 50 yards from the stop for pit entrance, the co-driver and driver started pushing the car, their crew (unbanded) ran over and asked the pit captain if they could help push, this was about 30 feet or so from the stop and the pc let them. Once the car got to the stop sign others came and helped push. I didn't think it was legal and I was saying wait don't help them and a guy in a pit next to me said "only within the last mile of the race". That's a Score rule not a BITD rule. BITD is NO outside assistance. Don't know where the line is...

****DISCLAIMER - I AM NOT SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF BITD***
This is the way I understood it by listening to the discussion on the various penalties that were handed out by BITD staff:
They could drive or even be towed by a BITD offical to an access or paved road. Their team could deliver the parts to them however the driver and co-driver (or in another case the rider of the motorcycle) had to be the only ones that touched the vehcile and completed the repair. If the repair was conducted by team members and not the driver or co-driver, they were DQ'd for the outside assistance.
I truly believe the spirit of the retrevial teams in BITD is to get the racers back in the race and give them a chance to finish. All those guys worked their butts off getting teams off the course as fast as possible and back in the event.

Re: TT 76 JONES / VILDOSOLA dq @ V2R
Has anyone heared from Tavo or Jesse...?
This was the last update from www.vildosolaracing.com
Tavo will drive Jesse Jones' TT #76 at Vegas to Reno
08/17/2011
Due to a previous engagement, Jesse Jones will not be able to attend the Vegas to Reno race and has asked Tavo to take over driving duties of his trophy truck. Tavo gladly accepted to help a colleague and good friend and with the support of the whole team they are now in las Vegas preparing to take home the victory for Jones!

Re: TT 76 JONES / VILDOSOLA dq @ V2R
I was under the impression that Tavo was buying the truck from Jesse, I guess that is not correct
