The lone entry on the other hand has all the power to do anything they feel because they are Scores customer and I know they will have Scores ear. It would be class suicide to have different rules at different races with different race orgs . and to let htown916 in on something, Score follows no one, every other org follows Score and Scores rules. It has always been that way as long as I have been racing, I am sure that is why the rule change went down in flames when you had all kinds of suport to do this. Having different rule will destroy class 9
Well I am not the kind of person that let's things go, I don't give up and one way to get me to really sink my teeth into something is to tell me that it can't be done. What I say is this, if none of the promoters who say they are here for the racers wants to step up and make some positive changes then Pro 9 should come up with their own tranny rule and everyone who is in agreement with the rule sign on and agree not to protest the issue. Problem solved. I know that is extreme and I am being a little sarcastic with that comment, but the point is this, gone are the days of building your own junk yard tranny and being competitive. Most everyone I know has their tranny gone through every race at a labor cost of $300-$500 if nothing is broke. If you race a 6 race series that's $1,800-$3,000 per season just in labor and I guarantee you could put way less than that into your current trans to make it a whole bunch more reliable and it will have a much longer life span. I am tired of those people who jump onto a thread just to say........ if you do this you will ruin the class, if you do that you will price other racers out of the class and blast on any changes that are discussed. The FACT is this I and many racers I know have already been priced out of being able to race a lot of races in a season because of the ridiculous "stock 1st 2nd" gear rule in the score rule book. I want to race more, spend less and see everyone else do the same. I want to see a ton of cars at every race and have my generation be able to talk about the "good old days" that we were a part of shaping. I really do think this is the best thing for the class and I hope it eventually comes to fruition.

Re: Open Type 1 Trans for 2012 or 2013?

As a trans. builder i can see the cost advantage of using a aftermarket 1st n 2nd. My vote is to allow any type 1 1st thru 4th and any type 1 ring and pinion. As for SCORE and Mr. Savage they don't care about class 9. Look at there car count. Changing the trans. rules would be cost effective as a builder. The rules changed from a single port head to a dual port, who voted for that. That cost for the change was more than changing 1st n 2nd, which will make the over all cost less in the long run. This change will in no way hurt are class that we love, but make it more affordable in the end. I am shooting my self in the foot as a builder.

917, Forest Creasy's old car (Mach 5, 905). I've only raced it once in VORRA, but unfortunately are already selling it due to college. Thought I could do it while going to a JC, but the time, money, support, etc. just isn't there.

Kinda crappy cause I really like the car and has been my dream to race for quite a few years. But alas that's life...

EDIT: Sorry to get off topic, just figured I should respond if it's directly to me :P

Yep, like Dan says SNORE and MORE are both full of good people who, I'm sure would be willing to help with pit support. The time and money I can understand, but for pit support, just ask or post on here. Almost everyone here is willing to help other people out in order to get them to the races!!!

Re: Open Type 1 Trans for 2012 or 2013?

    Calling all class 9 drivers/owners!

SNORE is OFFICIALLY responding to Class 9's possible interest in a transmission rule change. It is scheduled for a Class 9-specific vote for the transmission issue ONLY after the Battle at Primm Drivers meeting on February 24th. Due to the BLM restrictions, the Driver of Record, the Co-Driver, and the Team Captain need to be at the at the driver's meeting. Afterward those 2 or 3 of you(per team) need to stick around and this can be put to a vote. If you are a Class 9 driver/owner that is not racing BAP, you will be checked in at this meeting and who you are or who you are representing will be referenced against SNORE memberships(past and present). The results of this vote will be taken to the following Board meeting for the final consideration of any rule change. Any rule change approved can be effective no earlier than the beginning of the 2013 race schedule.

Re: Open Type 1 Trans for 2012 or 2013?

Dan, I don't know what SNORE's stance is as far being the only one to make a change like this. I think if a change is going to happen it needs to be Class wide and I will tell you right now, MORE will not make this change! Some people are going to be pissed that I say this but, here's the truth. Jim will not make this change and only thinks the racers who race his entire series should have a vote. In an email Jim sent he flat out said his "real racers" didn't want this and he didn't care what any other promoter did he wasn't changing a rule for part time racers. I think Jim is a good guy and has good intentions and helps a lot of racers from Barstow who race MORE but, it is a huge conflict for him moderate the forum on MORE's site, remove posts he doesn't agree with and rant about those people and make mis-statements, remove anything they post trying to correct his mis-statements while all the time saying he builds trannies for 90% of the racers who race his series. The other problem is that he is an old class 9 guy and has an emotional investment and admits he doesn't want to see the rule changed and sees it as unnecessary and a waste of money. The other thing that was funny is that some people voted, but didn't follow up complaining their vote wasn't posted and that was the end of it, but if you said you were building a class 9 car and plan on racing next season, your vote was posted right away as long as it was a vote to not change the trans rule. I think a lot of people saw me and another guy ripped up on the forum, by Jim and kept their opinions to themselves to not risk alienation. The bottom line is this, the vote earlier this year on the MORE site was influenced, manipulated and controlled by the promoter through intimidation and misleading statements. I was planning on racing the entire MORE series this year, but the most I may do is a couple of races with them. I will race where I am treated like a racer, even if I don't race a whole series. If there is a vote, the first thing to vote should be, do we open this rule up or not? If that passes then we vote on the options or what the exact change in the rule will be. IMO it's the only fair way to do it, not have 5 options, leave it the same, then 4 different choices of what the change should be.

Yepper I agree above.. you took alot of heat.. the MORE top 3 all voted no change too and I would have to respect that as they are doing the series. MORE has the largest regular Class 9 guys amongst all the promotors and I feel they carry more weight than SCORE and SNORE regarding rules for our class. I would not invest anymore time now in a rule change for 2012.
