Re: 2012 Texas Race Schedule
I think this schedule looks great. How about we just don't worry about points and just go racing. Give out prize money on an individual race basis only. There are probably very few race teams that will be able to make every race anyway. Hopefully the weather in Texas will be a little less dry next year so we can actually keep the dates as scheduled.

Two comments.....
1. A 500 mile race at Texana ranch would tear Carl's property to shreads.
2. A 500 mile race at Texana ranch would be very expensive. You would need 43 mile or more loops. To do that, you would need to include the rock sections that shreads tires. We shredded 4 rear tires in 200 miles at a winning pace. So... A 500 mile race would eat at least 4 tires if not 6. The majority of teams that raced the last BRT race could not budget $2k in tires alone. The fun factor would be just as much if the race was 300 miles.

I'm with ya Charles. It is good everyone is working together without the BS. I am all for no points but I would like to go one more step no payout! Trophies and bragging rights only. Now if you want to put your money where your mouth is side bets are always the way to go. None of us here that I know of make a living racing so why bother with payouts? Let’s just keep the costs as low as we can and all have a good time and Grow TEXAS desert racing.

Re: 2012 Texas Race Schedule
Are these dates firm? My .02 is Texas has smaller series's then the west coast orgs so getting firm dates for other series may make for less churn later and not conflict with other races like SF250. If the other org race dates are firm then I guess it's better to get Texas races published early as possible. I think venue is also very important to scheduling dates so any confirmed info around that that the org's can post would only help.
I also have a thought or two about payouts if anyone is interested...
We take all payouts for all classes and divide them up equally among the winners. Each class win gets x% of the total cash for the payback. You can even award additional % for overall or top 10. Or have a multiplier for each class or for classes with higher car counts.
TT/Utl = 12%
Class 10 = 10%
Class 12 = 8%
8 trucks = 10%
7 trucks = 6%
... ...
Or even just take 1st through 10th and payout like a poker tournament.
Place Payout
1 12%
2 10%
3 9%
4 8%
5 7%
... ...
... ...
10 2%
__________
Totaling 100% of the payback
My thinking is, it cost the same to run a car if there are 2 in the class or 20. If you are in a 20 class, you stand a chance to make some money but if your in a class with 2, you won't pay your gas bill with a win. Maybe the idea with a % going to each class winner and additional money going to the top 10 finishers.
Just wondering if there is a fair way to award payback without a points season (or hold back x% for season end payout) and have everyone share in the payback.

All I can tell you is that the 500 mile event WILL NOT be at Texana Ranch
You can't finish first...if you don't first finish

Could that whole tire issue just be the fact that a little more select management is required at Texana ranch?

The rock gardens are pretty rough. The first time there was dirt. Now it's eroding to straight rock.
