Re: Chenowth Mini Mag VS RZR 900
I have a smaller version of these made by triple eee Same suspension setup and at 8' in overall lengh! It is very competitive with the older pre-XP rzrs but mine came with an Odyssey 350cc Honda Odyssey from the factorey, and a previous owner swapped in a 500cc snowmobile engine!
I have only ran against one XP at a whiplash race in 2011 and I can't remember how we finished... I finished the race, and won the Arizona Cup Series in '11
I would imagine they would be competitive, and the terrain and driver skills would deterine the winner! Once you start moding the xp and racing it does the warrantee still work? I'd hope so!
I'd love to have the mini-mag, but as with my Triple EEE and Honda Pilo, I find it is getting harder and harder to find venues that will let me race in the utv class

I remember the Parrs running their mini mag and later his brother running the other one at MDR back a few years.. If I remember correctly they ran between a 32-35 mph average just depending on course etc.
They did well. Actually about 4 year ago they ran at MORE and a couple years back at the Powder Puff they had a Mini Mag there.
As for tires the Mickey Thompsons you can get in a 29, 30 or bigger so they do have them and I have owned some. lighter and nice. I ran them on the front of one of my cars and then I didn't change tires to go run at glamis etc.. just backs to paddles.
You can green sticker them (depending on local laws on engine red sticker) and take to were ever you like. I like the idea of installing a new updated engine and clutch. Then you have an even greater advantage over a RZR.
No, no warranty and single seater.. but if your just 1 person and dont want to give another person a ride and carry their fat ... their extra butt around then perfect.
They are both going to have pros and cons.. mini mags are fully caged and race ready.
Rzr spend a couple grand getting all your safety gear, cage etc. depending on where you race.. cost
And no your kiddneys are not going to hurt any worse in a Mini Mag then a Rzr etc. how well you set up your suspension determines your kiddneys abuse..
Anyways cool thread.. So who has a Mini mag and who wants to bring their Rzr out and do say the Powder Puff 20 mile loop at Barstow.. that is always a good test. Oh and we need video lots of video....

Tut,
We still have both mini-mags, I would put money on our mini-mags all they way. Theres no way those side by sides could keep up on a desert course. They dont have the ground clearence. We are running 31's up front and 33's in the rear. Those side by sides just dont have the ground clearence. If anyone is up for a run against one, let me know. Would be fun!!

I thought these were sold? I'm glad you still have them! They are bad a$$, but it's a shame there is very few places to race them!

Yeah still have both cars, and one spare frame and enough parts to build another one. We were just thinking about getting one ready for the baja cup maybe...we will see

Yes, running the yamaha 570cc exciter motors still. I saw somebody posting about the motors in the mini-mags not being reliable. Well, we would get just about a whole season in before we had to do a top end. That was about it, pretty reliable if you ask me.
