If you don't mind me asking, who did you pick the frame up from? I have a little history with the car and am just curious. It doesn't look like the car was ever completed, right? you can PM me if you like.
Jason, you are right...never finished. Any good stories of its origin would be appreciated. I picked it up from Frank Baird in Boulder City last week for cheap. It was stored in Dolan Springs, AZ for what I estimate was at least 2 years...unfinished. Hope you aren't gonna tell me I've inherited a disaster or it was stolen...anything like that would be lame!...everything looks normal and straight, though it needs lots of work still. Frank had given up on the project after cutting the front end off and planning to graft A-arms on for a class-10 car...that's as far as he got. We have all the aluminum panels as well. We hated the smaller diameter beam up front and it didn't match the rear track anyway...so it is completely off now and the front has been quartered up and cleaned in prep for reuse with a king-kong beam we are either having built locally...or are getting a kartek HD beam... Oh, more old build pics would be cool. I see a date on the photo you sent of 2007!!!! This car has been sitting since then!!! Wholly molly!!

Correction...need a King 2.5 coilover remote res for the front versus a 2.0....Also likely will go with a 16"/14" 2.5 King combo in the rear versus 14"/12" combo in the rear...Does anyone think I will run into articulation problems with 930CVs though?

Car isn't stolen or a disaster, though I never got to drive it so who knows. The car was built by Jim Frantz who owned Sandcars.net andFMS parts. He wanted to get back in to building race cars and decided to build a 12 car that myself and my racing partner would race for him and showcase some of his products. I was super stocked on the deal (as you could imagine) but then the economy started to tank and Jim sold the business. He held on to the car for awhile with the intention to finish it but it never materialized. It was a shame as all the major componets were purchased and ready for install. I was even fitted to the frame. I wanted to buy the car and all the parts but at the time I did not have the $$$. The car had a Fortin sequential and also the Fortin power rack. The motor was an 1835 Plenum motor from Mailman Motors. Jim made all his own hubs and brakes which would have been used (FMS). Here is a link to a thread I started in 2007 which has some specs and build pics. I will see if I have any other pics for you. Good luck with the build whichever way you decide to go.
Fank had mentioned it was built by Jim Frantz...I had never heard of him and thought it was a one-off effort...which I guess it was. I am surprised a guy trying to build his repretation went with such a small beam up front...stock diameter beam and only 6" over stock?!? That is why we needed to rip the front off anyway. Track width up-front didn't even match the rear! Also, you wouldn't know if he was setting up the rear for a 16"/14" combo or 14"/12" combo shocks? I am assuming Kings, but it probably doesn't matter seeing it was never finished out back. As you see, I have not decided on my final combo yet with the shocks. It is a shame the car has languished for so long...I only paid $1500 for it!! It should be ready for next season, so we are going to move very fast...I have a great team of workers and mechanics, so we can git-r-dun!! Do you still know Jim F?
I haven't talked to Jim in quite some time but not for any bad reason.I would still consider him a friend and he would be welcome at my dinner table anytime. He did alot for me and our race team back in the day for which I am still grateful. The car was going to use 14" 2.0 coil carriers and 16" 3.0 bypass in the rear. The front was going to run 12" shocks. Originally we were going to run Fox but I seem to remember Jim going with Kings at the end due to availability at the time. PM me your e-mail address and I will send you all the pics I have.
A bunch of pics from porboy..thanks on the INTEL on the new (old) chasis...started in 2007 ...talk about a long build...let's see if we can close her out in a few short (late night) weeks!!
