Re: Desert Runners Racing Class 5 Unlimited Build

Found some chasis damage under the car from the last race from smashing into a rock in the center, by the tranny. The skid plate did its job...but is also now toast now ($100 bucks down the drain)...We are doing a little reengineering on the rear shock mounts, rear shock valving, and reinforcing the skid plate area back there to keep the tranny and chasis safer...

We got the car all patched up (especially the bottom) and up-armored from the PCI race and got her all tuned up for the altitude at Caliente using the O2 sensor data. She performed well, but a snapped throttle cable put us down for a good 30 minutes and an unexpected co-driver change also added about 10 more...we finished, but we were too far behind to be a podium threat. Amazingly, all 6 class-12 cars finished the event with clean runs! Next step on the car is to change the cam as recommended by both FAT and Adam Wiks...a dyno run at Wiks is the next step after that!!

I had thought about it, but I have the motor out doing upgrades this week and I need a few more weeks to recoupe enough money for the Midnight Special race in SEP. That is our next event and I am pleased that MORE and SNORE are joining forces. This is what they need to do to put HDRA in their place....we have too many sanctioning bodies with the rise of HDRA...not good for the community. Are you heading out to the Freedom 250? BTW, do you ever check your Facebook account? I sent a "friend request" some time ago...LOL! Maybe I'm not worthy...LOL!!!

Cam as recommended by both Adam Wik and my boy at FAT. We will be doing a dyno run in a week or 2 at Wiks' We already had the top of the line 044 heads on the car.

We are in the process of upgrading the rear suspension...3.0 Race series bypasses, 1/2" longer axles, and new dimentions/location on the rear upper shock mounts...I did it wrong last time, so a bit of re-work to do before the next race.
