As for the seatbelts. I always knew Jerry W wore the shoulder belts loose never knew he was not wearing them. He will now be in them and he is cool with it. Subject is done. Yes I have a bias opinion, because I do help out Jerry Whelchel and Team.
Here's what I have to say. It has been said in early posts, Jerry Whelchel comes from a time of racing before some of us were even done with High School. Things were different then, and things are different now. The decisions Jerry makes in that truck are his and only his. You can kick and scream all you want, its not going the change a thing. He is going to do what makes him comfortable in that race car. Jerry is not personally putting anyone's safety in jeopardy other than his own. Bringing in the owners of the race team is a mute point. You can lead a horse to water, but you cant make him drink.

I disagree with you 100%
Jerry by his decision is endangering everyone with his choice.
He endangers his co-rider that may be involved in an accident when Jerry is knocked out from hitting a roll bar. He endagers course workers if he is rendered incapacitated when he is knocked out. He endangers responders that now have to get to him to render aid that may have not been necessary had he been apporpriately restrained. He endangers His sponsors that may get a bad reputation from negative press. He endangers the race promoters that already have a microscope on their ass each and every day. He endagers the sport when doing this in a competition sanctioned event.
If this is on his own time in his owwn vehicle in the middle of the desert then it is his choice.
To say that he is old school or whatever is not appropriate. Technology changes and advances. It does that for many reasons including safety. When things are proven to enhance safetly, embrace them and implement them. WHy is there such a pissing match over this.
Much respect to Jerry Z for making it known that it was something that he does not agree with and implementing change. That is all that is needed to end the topic.
Congrats to the entire 75 team on an amazing drive. I wonder what it would have been if you guys had gotten the qualifying results that you were headed towards before the roll.
