It sucks I missed the race, but I will compete when I have time. I did watch the race on YouTube and looks like pretty close at time!

Re: Baja: Edge of Control Racing Series
Hey guys!
Take a look at this article; it summarizes everything that happened at the ORRL in January. GREAT MONTH FOR US!!!!
-----------------------------------------------
January, a great start for the ORRL this year
San Diego, California (January 30th, 2012) – The Off-Road Racing League kicked off the 2012 year with what could possibly be the best month for the organization, in terms of events and participant attendance, since its conception in September 2009. “We (ORRL) are very happy with what we accomplished this month; sincerely, I never thought January would be such a good month for us. I think we exceeded our own expectations; right before ending the 2011, I thought the DiRT 3 Racing Series was in decline due to the low car count, but after this month, I think the series is in its best moment”, Victor (mexgamer), Head Administrator of the ORRL, commented. In this article we will review the happenings that made January such a great month.
The first event of the year was the 3rd edition of the traditional “ORRL Dakar Rally” which took place the 8th and 15th of January. The event served as a tribute to the real Dakar Rally and was attended by eight different drivers over the two days that the event lasted. Also, the ORRL Dakar Rally is the longest event of the whole season and it is unique due to the format of the event: two days of racing separated by one week, this allows the competitors to review their performance in the first part of the rally and adjust their set-up for the second part. The competition was fierce this year; at the end of the first part, jgwade3 hold the lead on top of NWH-Deathgrip. For the second part of the rally, NWH-Deathgrip and aka-wintec missed the event, thus leaving jgwade3 with a big lead over mexgamer and what appeared to be an easy win. However, the rally is long, and after three editions we have learned that the best single word to describe the Dakar Rally is “unexpected”. Mexgamer raced hard, crf450xguy, who did not show up for the first part, claimed a couple of stage wins; but, the real surprise came when jgwade3 wrecked his vehicle in Stage 11. This put mexgamer in a position to contend for the overall win; jgwade3 pushed hard in Stage 12 trying to maintain the lead he had but, dramatically, he wrecked his vehicle once again. After jgwade3’s mishaps, mexgamer claimed the overall win for the “3rd ORRL Dakar Rally”; what is more surprising is that he did not win a single stage! The 2nd place went to jgwade3 and the 3rd place to FastNfurious who maintained a safe pace throughout the rally and really paid out at the end.
On January 20th the new Baja Racing Series began with the “Laughlin Desert Challenge – Limited Classes” event. This was the first event on XBOX Live organized by the Off-Road Racing League, which explains why it was very special. Ten competitors showed up for the first running of the inaugural event despite Baja Edge of Control being a 4-year old game. With ten drivers racing in the challenging Laughlin Desert track, the event promised to be rather intense, and so it was. The first place went to Hockeyplyr26; tied in second place came xJUST ONEx and DrApocalypse420, proof of how close the competition was. Only two days after the first event the turn to race in Laughlin came for the Unlimited Classes. Again, ten drivers showed up to prove who was the best of the best. After two rounds of 10 laps and a total of 60 miles, XxToxickrewxX only managed a 26-second lead over DrApocalypse420, almost minimum considering the length and toughness of the event. SOULessTugboat came in 3rd after having problems with his connection and having to race by himself off-line with the same settings and the AI difficulty set at 120%; in addition, because he raced off-line, he was given a 30-second penalty, which only gives more merit to his 3rd place.
The 12th event of the 2011-2012 Season of the DiRT 3 Racing Series was also a tribute event: the 1st running of the “ORRL Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo. Monte Carlo is one of the most difficult locations in DiRT 3; narrow roads, hairpin turns, eight competitors hungry for victory, a ravine on one side of the road and a mountain on the other. All this added up to create one of the most challenging events so far. Wrecks were plentiful throughout the rally, and a newcomer claimed the victory, jimmyboy101. Just ten seconds behind him, Racer-Boy16 got the 2nd place; ricnifty14 joined them in the podium.
The last event of the month was Aspen’s Winter X Classic which took place on January 29th. Yet again, another tribute event, this time to the Winter X Games celebrated that same weekend in Aspen, Colorado. Attendance was close to maximum, only one competitor short to fill a room. However, because the event was RallyCross, the competition was not going to be any less interesting than in the past weekends. Surprises came even before the event started; longtime ORRL member and 2010-2011 Champion, Purblood, was the latest entrée to the event. The show was set; some of the best DiRT drivers in the world came together for this event. TripleXRaceCo38 had been craving a win for a long time then; standing in 2nd place in the General Standings but with no wins so far, he had to redeem himself from the DNF he had suffered the past weekend at Monte Carlo. NWH-Deathgrip had been absent the past few weekends, but he was back and ready to win. Jgwade3 had slipped victory at the Dakar Rally and in the Rally of Monte Carlo had wrecked his car multiple times; losing was not an option for him. Purblood, the last time he raced in the ORRL was back in July at the season finale; having been absent for so long sure made it more difficult for him to win, but maybe then more than ever, he wanted a victory and he sure had the skills to win at Aspen. Triptonix_, FastNfurious and mexgamer completed the field of seven competitors; coming up to the Winter X Classic, they had participated in all the January events, being consistent and having some strong finishes, which is what ultimately wins championships. TripleXRaceCo38 dominated the event from start to finish, winning all of the 4 races and taking home a well-deserved victory; it might sound like it was easy for him to win, but jgwade3, NWH-Deathgrip and Purblood always followed him closely The battle for the first place was fierce in every race; however, TripleXRaceCo38 was able to withstand their pressure and come up victorious. The competition was so close that jgwade3 and NWH-Deathgrip ended up tied in 2nd place. Purblood finished 3rd overall, only 2 points in front of mexgamer. FastNfurious was 5th and Triptonix_ 6th.
After beginning the year in such a great way, the Off-Road Racing League is extremely excited about what is to come in this year 2012. “I can’t tell you how excited I am about this year; I know I say this every year but after what we saw in January I think this is going to be the best year so far. We have the whole Baja Racing Series with so many fun events like the Dirtnation - Independence Special, the Baja 500 and of course the Baja 1000, the season finale! Plus, we, Baja Ghost and I, have so many good plans for the series; you are going to love it! For the DiRT 3 Racing Series we have a whole bunch of events, and the chase for the cup is coming up in May. With Purblood back, NWH-Deathgrip leading in the standings, TripleXRaceCo38 claiming his first win, and all the other drivers, jgwade3, FastNfurious, triptonix_, jimmyboy101, crf450xguy, etc. it’s going to be a very interesting chase. I can assure you, the Champion is going to be decided in the last race of the season”, Victor told us. We are also looking forward to this year, and the future seems bright for the ORRL!

Re: Baja: Edge of Control Racing Series
Hey! Well, you still have 12 days until the Unlimited-Classes event (10 until the Limited-Classes event). If that's not enough time I'll have to see what Baja Ghost thinks about it.
